Illegal drugs and teens

Well after looking on the internet I have become even more concerned about drugs than I already was...You see it seems do we not only have to worry about our kids getting drugs from their friends or the dealer on the corner or in our

town but looks like the internet is the new tool for pushing drugs to our kids... The drug I am talking about this time is called 2C-I...Its full chemical name is 2.5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenethylamine... I have gotten most of the information contained in this article from Wikipedia as there just does not seem to be many other sources of information on this drug... It is not a cut and paste job but the information will be similar but alot less comprehensive...If you really want to know about this drug click the wikipedia link...

2C-I comes in a few forms a powder, liquid or in pill form...It can be smoked, snorted, given rectally (called shelfing) there has been a few reports of this drug being taken intraveniously but on a whole the main way of taking this drug is orally...After taken the drug will show effects within the hour...These can last anywhere up to 12 hours depending on the amount taken...It is a synthetic halucinogenic drug and gives similar effects to lsd...The user feels...Happy, energetic, the reality of things you see is changed and  Everything becomes bright and colourful...There are some unpleasant side effects that come with this drug also these include feeling sick, tughtening muscles, and vomiting but that does not mean the side effects are limited to this but...There is not enough if any research that has been done on this drug...Users of Lsd and this drug say the flashbacks that can occur are similar...

Because of the lack of research there is no evidence in stone of the dangers of using this drug BUT there are some unconfirmed reports that have mentioned things like..Blood-clotting issues...vision problems...muscle pains..tingling of the extremities..pain in the kidneys and symptoms similar to stroke...Seizures have also been reported...Although no deaths have been reported linked to the use of this as yet this does not mean it can not happen...

The main danger I think that comes with this drug is its availability online...[edit by Minti Founders:  The linked article regarding prosecution of a seller of this drug no longer works and it is uncertain whether any person has been prosecuted in relation to this drug].    Another reason to be aware of what our kids are doing online and another reason to Talk, Talk, Talk,....
