PCP
The next drug I would like to tell you about in this illegal drugs and teens series is called PCP (Phencyclidine)..It is a drug that is a depressant with halucinonegenic effects... It was originally designed as an anesthetic for surgery but due to the unwanted side effects it
causes it was just legally restricted to veterinary uses...This was only for awhile that it was used on horses until it was finally made illegal and no longer used at all...
The street name for this drug is Angel dust...
PCP comes in a pill form, powder or even in crystals and liquid...It is smoked usually but can be swallowed and even injected... As with most drugs how much is used affects the reaction you get to it...In low to middle of the range doses the effects can include, euphoria, altered ideas and thoughts, dulled senses, mood changes, reduced feeling of pain, speech problems and losing ones co ordination...When the user takes a higher dose the effects can be but not limited to, excitement and confusion, the users muscles can become quite rigid, vision can be altered and metal focus on things can be lost, Intense mood changes, fear of death, isolation, changes in the person body ideas of their body, violence can occur.....Research into PCP and its effects show that it confused the brain and changes the way the user deals with people and events Driving and even sometimes walking will become too difficult....
PCP can do all sorts of things to the user...It can change the person from who they are into someone they do not even know themselves...It can produce bizarre and violent behaviour in a person that is not usually like this...It can also cause convulsions, heart failure, lung failure ruptured blood vessels in the brain, coma and even death...
The above effects are not even long term effects of this drug...Some users of this drug will develop a schizophrenic-like psychosis that can last for days and even weeks...Paranoia is also an effect of this drug...Permanent speech problems and memory loss are also a long term effect of this dangerous drug with recurring halucinations...
Look at the effects just trying this drug has...What can it do to a growing teenage body and mind? I know what I am going to do to try to prevent my children from even thinking of trying this and if they do knowing what they are getting into...I am going to talk to them tell them of the dangers so when their friends say that it will be okay just try it wont hurt just once...They will know it will....
Talk to your kids tell them of the big bad world and all the things they can come across so when all the new drugs come out they may come to you and talk...
COMMUNICATION is the key....Keep your kids as informed as you as they go into the hardest time of their life....The teen years...
Have a great day
Cheers
Angie
