Capturing Family Life in Photographs- Idea #3

tracey by tracey Young Parent(March 2007) (rank 6th)
Part of a series of ideas to help any parent take endearing and meaningful pictures of their kids.

 Idea #3- Food Fun

One might never consider the act of eating as the most attractive time to take pictures but when it comes to mealtime and children, food

can be very fun! Many of us take photos when our children first learn to eat solids which is the most obvious (and adorable) milestone to catch on film but why stop there? Although living day to day with a kid who wears more food than he eats can be exhausting and not very endearing but if you change your perspective and look at it as just another fleeting phase of childhood, it can be pretty cute. And it can make a great picture or series of pictures.

Even if your child is proficient at getting the food in her mouth and not all over her face, mealtime can still be a fantastic time to capture candid family moments. If there is a specific snack or favorite meal that occurs daily, try to snap a photo of it. It may sound a little out of the ordinary but when one day you look back on a photo of your child delicately picking up her Cheerios one by one, you will be left with a sentimental sigh.

Food memorabilia...
I have read that certain foods can make you feel good... Especially if you have a good childhood memory in regard to them.  Which is why common ones, like ice-cream and chocolate help us to feel good, as we usually had them when we were having fun with our parents - special treats.  It is a good idea for littlies to look back fondly on the foods that made them happy when they were little and special occasions etc.  I was snap happy before, you are making me even worse with these great, simple ideas!
