WOW DAY- a happy ending

Anonymous Author (March 2007)

Hello minti members just thought I’d share with you this story…

It’s coming up to st Patrick’s day but in our family it’s known as wow day, heres why… To set the scene, my mother in law had her first baby when she was

16 to her sweet heart at the time but the baby had crusons syndrome (basically where the bones in the head are deformed- too much or not enough bone) and had to go through many operations in his first two years… the doctors said he would not be functional as a member of society and may not live past his fifth birthday. (Thankfully today he is still around, has a good job and lives in his own flat.)

A year after all this had settled mum had a beautiful second child, a girl (we’ll call her D) to her first husband… life was good for nearly 2 years, then 4 months before D’s 2nd birthday the husband took her and did not return… we later discovered he had travelled interstate with her and got mixed up in a cult like religion. After countless bouts with the authorities, mum decided to go look for D herself… pregnant at the time with my partner (another crusons baby, same father as her first son) and with a feisty toddler for company, she bussed it across Australia in search of her daughter…but to no avail. Returning home without D was tough and I’m sure it had a part to play in triggering bi polar disorder in mum. But she never gave up hope that her baby would be ok…

The years came and went and mum had another baby boy to her second husband, her reward baby as she says… nothing wrong and hardly cried. With her husband and three boys they were a happy family for a while… but then this husband got into heavy meds, mostly morphine and the relationship went down hill… About 7 years ago mum got together with a long time friend of the family and for five years the boys had a great dad in him until just under 2 years ago when he betrayed them all by being with an x girlfriend of 2 of the boys… you’d think all this would send mum over the edge but in the midst of all this she had a saviour. Mums mother got an interstate call from D on saint pats day. Finally D had made contact, after 20 years apart mum had her baby girl back. All we could say was WOW!… Since then D has been here a few times here with her partner and mum has gone there. I can see it in her face now, mum is a happier person even though she is living on her own she has all her kids happy and healthy.

And that’s why we call st Patrick’s day wow day. Enjoy the weekend peoples. :)‘s for you all.
