Road test : Ecobots nappies

monyq83 by monyq83 Young Parent(March 2007) (rank 9th)

Well this road test aint so great. Im a disposable nappies user, and while Im all for saving our environment, I set my standards pretty high when buying nappies. Preferably, Im a huggies girl. When we can afford it, that is. I usually try and get them on special. But

this time they werent on special and I bought a packet of Ecobots nappies by Babylove, and I gotta tell ya, I had some pretty high hopes and felt a bit disappointed. Now Im not trying to get online and shame Babylove, because normally they make a really great nappy, but well... these just didnt cut it Im afraid.

Now theyre great if you dont mind changing your baby ALOT but compared to Huggies, they just didnt last the night. 3 nights in a row my 11mth old woke up soaked in his own urine, and I wasnt impressed. And they feel wierd to touch. I dunno maybe Im just being picky.

The good points though are that they are made up of 68% biodegradable origin, whilst regular nappies are only around 30 - 40% biodegradable. When you think about the millions of nappies each day our beautiful planet goes through, thats pretty impressive odds.

Id give them 3 out of 5 thumbs up.  But only because theyre kind to our environment.

ecobot nappies
I almost brough some this week but didnt and went with huggies. thanks for that i think ill stick to huggies. If you think about it they are probably no better than huggies if huggies are half the biodegradable of eco bots yet you change half as much they are about the same :)

Ecobots
Hi
We found the same problem with them with Jalan as well
They jsut did not perform like we wanted.
I'm not a big baby love fan either though
What i have found that works for us is Coles own brand nappies are pretty good
Woolworths own brand large boxes are fantastic but bear in mind woolworths have 2 different home brand ones....The ones in the large white box are the ones that worked for us.
We were given a packet of snugglers and they are now good to and reasonably priced.
Huggies naturally are the best but unless they are on special who can afford them.
We often use a mixture of cloth and disposables but somedays life is too hectic for cloth
Luv Deb
When we originally tried them they were pretty useless but they have redesigned them and now i would recommend them...at least for a girl...don't know on a boy though

Cloth option
Sounds like cloth would be easier.
I use cloth on bub who is 16mths. They last all night - bamboo, hemp and organic cotton is absorbent, kind to bub's skin and is cheaper in the long run. So easy to use - we use fitteds so very easy.
I haven't tried the ecobots so can't comment.

Road test : Ecobots nappies

I didnt write this advice for parents not to buy them, because they really are great for our environment, but if you are after a nappy that is gonna go the hard yards by keeping baby dry all night, i really dont think these are the best option.

i hope ive helped some other parents out there make an informed decision and i really hope ecobots can over come the absorbency issue, because if they do im sure ill become a huge fan of them. ill do anything to make our planet a better one for our kids to grow up in.

I didn't read your advice as a 'not to buy' item.
I just thought I'd clear that up.
I too am interested in helping the environment and I was really impressed with the commitment Baby Love had put into this new nappy, just like everyone else I am looking for great quality at a low price.
I guess nothing beats Huggies as I am having trouble with the Woolworths Select brand as well.

Hi
Woolworths home brand are the better ones to get...the Select brand like in a few things just don't cut it.....
I would have thought it would have been the same but alas...their frozen chips in the select range are yuck too

Nappies

Hi Mony . . .

Great job on the nappies . . . . I am a huggies addict myself but recently had to buy woolies brand nappies in a box . . . . Very good - not much difference between them and huggies. Sumara is 10months and no blowouts!

Cheers Kellz

Nappies
Yes, I'm using them at the moment and Miss Cheeky Chops doesn't like them. She complains of a 'wet nappy' every time she does a wee and they don't last the whole night through.
Just my opinion.

Oh right, Might steer clear of them then, coz Ive got enough washing to do as it is with a big family without having to wash his bed clothes every night as well lol
