For Easter we leave carrots outside on the porch for the Easter Bunny to have a snack to show our appreciation. The kids love to see how much he actually ate.
When we decorate eggs we write funny sayings on a few. Whichever child finds the "Jimmy
is" egg gets $2.00 Whoever finds the most eggs also gets a treat. We usually end up hiding the eggs 4 times. The "Easter Bunny" leaves a dozen eggs that he decorated, and the kids and I decorate others. Sharpie markers work great to decorate with, at least for the older kids. The younger ones get to use crayons to write on the hard boiled eggs before they are dyed.
This year I am going to hide the plastic eggs also, I usually don't do these. Unless they are filled with candy in the kids baskets, but I thought it would be fun this year to hide plastic eggs filled with floam, playdough, small stickers, and small erasers. Basicly any small item that my kids will use. Sometimes we do money in the eggs in the easter basket, but I think giving small toys and such is better. Just my opinion though.
Instead of using the plastic grass that is available for around $1 I use colored tissue paper. It is alot less messy and does not end up tangled in my vacuum! Now they even have easter print tissue paper. It works just as well to make a nest for the Easter eggs.
Have a "stain station" just shout wipes, or the new tide pen, and baby wipes for hands and faces. Because the kids will get dirty, and they will usually be in their fancy dresses, or little suits. This is a good idea for any get together, because who wants to look back on pictures and see the big pink kool aid spot on their daughters Easter Dress?
One more good idea if you are having a big get together at your home is to have a "guest basket" I usually have mine on the back of the toilet in the guest bath. In it I place items like band aids, tylenol (with a child proof cap), allergy tablets (again child proof), kleenex, cough drops, travel sewing kit, shout wipes, lotion, clear nail polish, baby wipes, femenin hygene products both pads and tampons, travel size deodorant, travel size mouth wash and travel toothbrush with tooth paste, chapstick, travel size hairspray. That way if your guest is in need of something they will see it and save them selves the sometimes embarasing aspect of asking for it.
Hoppy Easter!!!
