Cleaning there toys

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(March 2007) (rank 13th)
So I asked for advice on how I could clean my son's Woody and Buzz dolls that were bought for him from the Disney Store.  As  you may or may not know those toys are pretty expensive and so I didn't want to ruin them the same way as you
ruin a pillow when you wash it.  So the advice that I got and used worked great.  Put those toys in a pillow case and I washed them with his sheets also.  Then I threw the toys in the dryer in the pillow case but they did come out of the case which I don't think matters.  The toys did come out clean and another advice I got is for the stains that don't come out take the toy to the dry cleaner, that is if you can get the toys out of your child's hands.  I couldn't get the toys dry enough because my son kept taking them out of the dryer.  I hope this advice helps in the future of cleaning your kids dirty toys.

Re: Cleaning there toys
I don't have too many soft toys but have always put them through the machine if needed then hung them out in the sun.  I didn't have a dryer until not long ago and mine doesn't play with soft toys.  Even the dolls she has are ones she can take in the bath.  But with the other toys I just wipe them over with a damp cloth using warm water and disininfectant.

Re: Cleaning there toys
i have a front loader which is soft on all clothes and stuff. i got all my toys out of storage and half filled the machine as i have a 5kg washer and a 4 kg dryer and did it that way, they came up beautiful. i too have the buzz and woody doll but mine are the pastic ones i just used a damp cloth on those. the other one i do is with my cabbage patch dolls (again expensive) but i let my daughter take them into the bath with her and they get quiet clean there. my son takes his matchbox cars in their all the time.

Pricey alternative

Also you could use the dry shampoo, they sell it at some pharmacys, it is for people that have medical issues, I found it after my mom was in a horrible car accident and had to have her face reconstructed, we could not get the sutures wet,  so I asked the pharmacy tech if there were any products I could use, he recomended this, which is pricey, but works great for toys too!

Cleaning toys

I found that using a product called Orange Power "Multi-Purpose Cleaner" was really good and it didn't remove any colouring from the toys. Escpecially on cloth/material type toys. As grub was a super drooler when tiny and loved to mung on his toys, I found a few of them got mildew on them. But this stuff got it out. I let it sit on it for while, then some of them needed a little encouragement with the toothbrush.

I came across it when he discovered a black cd marker and drew all over his white top, white bedside table and my pale blue-grey carpet. It removed it off the carpet (and everything else) and didn't leave a single mark. I can;t even tell where it was on the carpet.

Cleaning plastic toys
When your childrens plastic toys get a bit grotty I have found the best things is to soak them in warmish water with denture cleaning tablets like Steradent or Polygrip, or even fill a bucket or big bowl three quarters with warm water and add a cup of a good quality bleach for a few hours then rinse off and they should come up like new. Sometimes you may need a toothbrush to get them extra clean especially on little ones toys that you know that they will put in their mouths.
