Road test: Snugglers Nappies

monyq83 by monyq83 Young Parent(March 2007) (rank 13th)

This road test is on Snugglers Nappies.

So far these have been the closest thing I can get to Huggies. When I cant afford Huggies these are what I buy.

They are ultra absorbent, very breathable, and 9 times out of 10 they will last all night. Have

never had a problem with nappy rash when using them either. The liner inside them that goes against babys skin isnt quite as soft as huggies, but it comes damn close.

They are a bit pricey, which is why I prefer to buy them in bulk, so that I get my money's worth. They fix baby well, and make a great unisex nappy. Cost around $22.

Features include cloth like cover, reusable grip tabs, triple leak protection (the webbing bit that goes around babys legs to stop wee coming out the side)and an ultra absorbent core. They fit nicely against baby's body too, and arent too bulky compared to some nappies.

I didnt realise until I started writing this, but they are made by Kimberley Clark Australia, who are the same people that make Huggies, Pampers, and Pull ups. That would explain their good quality and why they are so similar.

This is their website.
Hope this shines some light for new parents into the mystery of nappy brand comparisons.

Oh, and I rate them 4.5 thumbs up out of 5.

Snugglers

I've bought these for both my boys as Huggies are just too expensive. I think they were the best all rounder for leakage, comfort, and most important, value for money.

Great article!!

baby love and boys

i used baby love with both my girls for day and night and they were fantastic

i bought a box after my huggies nb's ran out for ziggy and i was really dissapointed they leaked he started waking at 4am because he was wet not hungry  or he was really really wet when i got him up so i went back to huggies and iv had no problems

i buy a big box every 3-4 weeks from bigw cause they always seem cheaper there

Snugglers didnt agree with my kids :(
I tried Snugglers with both of my children and they just did not impress me.  My son wet through them so quickly.. and they just didnt sit right on him (he is a bit of a nugget though).. But for my daughter.. She wore them maybe twice and both times the same thing happened.. As soon as she did a wee it would come straight out the top of the nappy at the front!!!  I saw it happen!!  It was like it would just fill up, not absorbing any of it, then overflow.. I called Kimberley Clark and told them how I felt they were useless nappies and they sent me out a huge bulk pack of Huggies to replace them!!  I was so impressed by that!!  What a lovely thing to do!!!  From then on i just stuck with Huggies, or Kimbies VIP which are also made by them

Nappies

It is hard finding the right nappies isn't it for your baby. It took me a while to find the right one's for my daughter, and i did exactly the same as you, found the homebrand packets to be cheaper, and went for the cheaper version of the brand i was using. It's great isn't it when you can work out which cheap brand belongs to the better brand.

UK - Bambino
In the UK I have found the Bambino range good for lasting the night, not leaving crystals or smelling as Mel has pointed out in her post below can be a problem with cheaper varieties, and I have saved a bomb using them.
Peace

Snugglers Nappies
I agree. THey are second best to huggies. They dont soak up as much or keep it off the skin as well but are almost as good. I find if the boys wear them for too long they smell (especially overnight) and they leave jelly crystals but aside from that they are great :)

disposable options
I never had mine in disposables, but working in a Toddler room in childcare I see all brands come through.  I never liked the idea of pull-ups for toilet training, simply because i believe a child has to feel the wetness in order to get the idea to go to the toilet/potty.  Huggies have these excellent new Pull-ups with a 'wetness liner' to help them feel wet and therefore assist with toilet training.  As far as other nappies go, I would probably say that huggies, snugglers and baby love are the better ones. The all-plastic ones I wouldn't like to use on my own child and hate putting them on the children at daycare, but we only use what the parents provide. Much less nappy rash with the snugglers, huggies and baby love than with any other brand.

i agree. i hate the plastic ones. theyre no good for letting the babys skin breathe, and theyre shocking for aiding nappy rash!

Nappies

Wow sorry girls i am the bargain queen, i buy nappies from my local "healthy pharmacy" the brand is Teddy Love i think they are called but anyway i get 30-36 nappies for $10 well $9.99 and i swear by them they are so cool both my girls had them and i didn't have a problem with them, i have never bought nappies from places like Big W, Target etc, i always stay local and small normally the price is small to. Although i live in Queensland, it might be worth your while having a look at your local chemist.

Best Wishes Blond.

nappies

Hate to say it but i cant stand snugglers, i found them to leak all the time. I love huggies but as they cost a fortune, i only use them at night. I buy Baby love for the day time and i buy a box  with about 60 in it from a second hand baby store and they only cost $25.95 for all sizes. They are meant to be seconds but i have never had any problems with them, ever!

Huggies
Hi
I use woolworths and aldi too they are pretty good.
Just don't buy the savings brand...they are not the best for a girl
We are using snugglers at the moment only because they were on special at Big W it works out for toddlers 34 cents a nappy...but you have to buy them in a 96 box they work for Jalan all bar the fact if she is left in one a little bit too long the stuff inside the nappy seems to separate at the front and the back and she gets a real long duck bum.
Not 100% confident in them.
Luv Deb
