Tooth care

supertooth by supertooth Talking(March 2007) (rank 138th)

Parents need to know how to care for teeth by removeng plaque from teeth before eating to prevent sugar and starch being changed to acid while eating. Also to remove trapped food after eating so residual plaque bacteria cannot cange much cariogenic food to acid. Removing trapped food also helps

access for fluoride and saliva between teeth and inside grooves on chewing surfaces to neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.

Parents also need to develop tooth care skills and habits in their children with regular help from the Dentist.  Visit the Supertooth and Good Food Friends web site http://supertooth.ndk.biz and register for more information as it come to hand. Also ask governments to include Supertoth in their health projects.

Supertooth and Good Food Friends is a food related holistic health project with brand potential, mainly aimed at preventable tooth decay that even with fluoride and oral hygiene is still the most common community disease with an economic impact comparable with heart disease and diabetes.   Almost all cavities occur where food is left trapped between teeth (20%) and inside grooves on chewing surfaces (80%) after every meal or snack and the toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, saliva and chewing gym, cannot reach.   Few cavities occur at accessible tooth surfaces where the brush, saliva and fluoride, etc., have easy access to remove food, neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth.   Supertooth has teaching aids and simple experiments that allow participants to see how food is trapped and displaced by chewing forces that can also improve saliva and fluoride toothpaste access between teeth and inside grooves for the same protection as that achieved by brushing accessible tooth surfaces.   The Supertooth project also improves tooth care skills and compares tooth care methods of brushing, flossing and chewing that is an eye-opener even for dental professionals. The experiments also show how some sugarless foods like cheese and nuts can act as sealants to prevent food being trapped and changed to acid while eating if chewed just before eating. They even help displace trapped food after eating and help saliva neutralise acid and repair demineralised tooth. See how chewing can trap and displace previously trapped food or prevent food being trapped at http://ndk.biz/slideshow
