Kids and money.

Anonymous Author (March 2007)
* What if my children want things that i cant afford? This question we asks ourselves nearly every day. Well heres some tips that i use so my children understand that we are not that lucky  to have a money tree growing in our backyard.
And its
okay to say 'no' to your children when they ask for things
Children really want our time and know we care about them.

Now with my tips to help you save money with your children and have fun.

1. Plan activities in advance, so you can take advantage of low-cost or no-cost events- check with your local council or your local paper for free events in your area.

2.Do things with your relatives- like going to the beach in summer, have bbqs, and having picnics.

3.Use the local library for books, toys,Cds, and Dvds.. Your children from the age of 2 should be able to be able to have a library card, issued under your name to borrow these items.

4..Take a walk around the block or to the local shop----any outing can be a adventure especially for young children.
Make a list and draw some pics on what you need at the shop, and explain thats all you need for that pecuiler day.

5. Plant a garden or grow something in a pot plant

6.Visit a charity shop and allow them one toy to choose.

7.Play board games and cards- You could even make them. go to your local reject shop for materials.

8.Take lunches instead of buying food when out. Get your children to help you pack the picnic.

9.Cook together- Children love eating what they make.

10.Do a craft activity at home- such as painting..

11. Ask your child if they like a friend over to play..

12.Become involved in a local sport- most clubs allow you to pay instalments on any fees and there are usually a lot of secondhand gear to buy,

13.Help them with their homework,or get involved with their school activities.

So next time you feel guilty and think we can not afford to do anything remember money is''nt everything and we can enjoy doings things without opening our wallets or purses straight away
