Bed time for the youngsters

Anonymous Author (March 2007)

I have found if i put my daughter to bed, then read her stories, or sing songs while she's in bed, i can't get her to sleep. I always have trouble getting her to sleep, so i have found a solution to this that works for me.

Half an hour before i put her to bed, i read to her, sing her songs, or what ever she want's and i spend a good solid half an hour with her doing this, and when it becomes bed time and for her going to sleep, i have no problems at all. She goes off to sleep vertually straight away. It's worked wonders for me, and she's asleep with in 20 minutes.

I've done this for a few months now, and it's still working on her very good. I know every child isn't the same, so maybe trying different techniques on your child and maybe doing it a different way to what i've done, and hopefully it works for you also.

My kids sleep routine..
I find if I spend time with them when they are in bed, they dont want me to go!!  So I spend time with them in the lounge room for a while before they go off to their rooms.. Then its a quick "Good night!!  Love you!!  See you in the morning!!".. Anything more and i get stuck in a long conversation LOL.. My girl likes to have relaxation music playing in her room, and my boy doesnt like any noise in his room (except the noises from other rooms, we dont need to be quiet or anything)..  They are both pretty good and will put them selves to bed when they want to go.. Hopefully it stays that way!!!  ROFL

My kids sleep routine..

That's what my daughter was like also kazy. Thats why i read or sing to her a half an hour before she goes to sleep, and i find i can just let her go to sleep on her own, and that's the way we both like it.

Thankyou heaps for replying, and i do similar to what you do also.

My daughter is now 4, but this way has always worked for me. I've had to swap and change alot of routines over the years, but stuck to the same one for about 3 months or so and if that particular one didn't work, then i'd try another one, but this one has worked the longest so far.

That's ok to laugh. No worries there.
