Children and car safety

kiarasmom2005 by kiarasmom2005 Speaking(April 2007) (rank 500+)

I think there are alot of parents out there (atleast in my town), That do not have their heads screwed on straight.

Heres the scenario:

I will be driving down the road, looking around at different cars.........to see children bouncing around and playing in the car with no

seat belts on. Standing up in the back seat climbing into the front seat....you name it I have seen it around here and it is really upsetting.

I think that if you are one of those parents................listen up.   I think that you need to understand it is your responsibility not right to protect that child. That life that is bouncing around in your back seat belongs TO your child not you. It is important to understand that just because you are a careful defensive driver DOES NOT mean other people are. There are alot of people on the road that shouldn't be.

I personally don't want to get into an accident with a vehicle that a child could be seriously injured, mamed for life, or die in. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. That's your child..............could you live with yourself?

If your rug rat will not put on their seat belt you pull that car over and don't move until they do. Please for the safety of that child.

It could happen to anyone!
I guess these people think nothing bad could happen to them, but good people get into car accidents all the time and then what is done is done. I agree with you, these parents need to wake up and and protect their kids. If kids grow up in car seats since they are infants and parents continually reinforce that car seats are good because they are part of how mommy and daddy show love for their little ones by protecting them, even the most willful children will accept that riding in the car means sitting in the car seat!

kids and car safety

Yes it amazes me with the amount of  parents out there that  after all the road safety education still allow their children to basically run wild in the car. My car does not move until all passengers have a  their seat belt on. sometimes What will it take for some parents to learn LOSE A CHILD.

Go the safety seat
I don't care what anyone says, I have my daughter in a safety seat she will stay in until she is around 7 or 8. She is safe, I am making her safe, and that's my job. People can criticise me and say I'm babying her but I'm not prepared to bury my child because I didn't want to spend $300 on the seat.  I bought 2 of them, they are fantastic.  She's got one in my car and one in my mum's car.  She still has 2 birth- 4 car seats she still fits into as she is only 3, and a small frame too, so we have spare car seats when other kids are in our car or if she's going in someone else's car.

Go the safety seat
Excellent! I am the same. My kids will be in seats till they are 8 because its proven that adult seat belts dont work properly till a child is 8. They are trying to pass a law here at the moment about it.

Go the safety seat

Ok now this is deffinately an uneducated statement but I didn't even realise kids should stay in them till they are 7-8. I am all for it!! Thank you!!

It is amazing that parents do that and I guess sad to say some parents might have to suffer those consequences. It's really sad to see children die cuz of ignorance and stupidity. There was a child in our area where the parents were down at some docks, and left their kid in the vehicle (which was a standard) and I guess the kid played around with the shifter, the vehicle rolled into the water and the child died. It was sad.

My heart goes out to all those little angels in the sky who didn't have a chance at life

Car Safety!
I totally 110% agree. Dont move that car till they are strapped in. People just dont take it seriously!! I WILL NOT go anywhere in a car where my sons cant be strapped in. I even get a certain bus to Launceston ( 2 1/2 hour drive ) because they are fitted with belts...

Amazes me that anyone would want to risk  driving without their child being safely restrained in a car
