A Cure All for all Child Injuries-- the Magic of Band Aids

Vicki by Vicki Speaking(April 2007) (rank 500+)

This weekend while in the boy’s room putting laundry away, I noticed my 3 year old, Wesley, trying to climb to the upper most reaches of his eldest brothers bunk bed with the goal of 'stealing' his secret stash.

I removed the ladder and explained

that he needed to respect his brother’s private possessions and I left the room. I returned momentarily to find, Wesley precariously perched on a stack of mismatched chairs! (The scene reminded me of the King’s balancing act in Yertle the Turtle).

Wesley tumbled down and scraped his ribs. YEOWW! Tears, screams and shock….His older brothers ran to the rescue bringing plenty of sympathy and Band Aids!

In quickly accessing the situation, we all concluded that this was a special 4 band aid operation. Immediately after applying the first band aid, Wesley was ‘cured’. He was proud of his band aid status. He proceeded through the day to proudly pull up his shirt to showoff the bandages.

I was amazed at how MAGICAL and simple the recovery became after the band aids were applied.

I caught myself wishing that all my trial and tribulations could somehow vanish with a small strip of plastic. In fact, I marvel at their power. At what age do kids stop believing in the magic of band aids? In my family, it seems to have lasted longer than Santa and the Easter Bunny.

All I know is I wish I could bottle and sell the cure-all for adults. (ie. broken hearts, etc.)ottle the and sell the cure all for adults.

The same thing works for my almost 3 year old. But somehow it's been carried too far. Now he wants all the bandaids in the house and he puts them on all over himself on the countless imagined boo boos.

band aids
I use a very magical product called Friars Balsam, just like my father used on me. Let me tell you after only 1 application, unless your arm was actually falling off, you never had a problem. I started it with my kids and it still works the same as it did back when I was younger. (My Gawd that makes my 38 yrs sound ancient! He he.) It stings like hell, but it works to help guard the sight against any nasties. And the kids don't ask for much in the way of sympathy if they do something little either. Leisa

band aids and panadol
Hi
Isn't it amazing the magical cure of band aids and panadol for anything from a sore you can't see to a gigantic headache.
Even in hospital they give you the miracle cure all panadol as well and still stick a band aid over any blood test site.
The power still works as a adult
As soon as that band aid is on there adults forget about the cut/sore etc
Ingrained throughout our lives i think
Beats the fat red fellow and that bunny that lays eggs every time.
Luv Deb
