Buy Clear Pedialyte When Your Kid Has the Flu

pfallerj by pfallerj Proud Parent(April 2007) (rank 95th)

Remember the 72-hour diet I blogged about for when your baby has the stomach flu? The first 24-hours involve giving your baby Pedialyte or Gatorade exclusively to help them stay hydrated while they get through the worst of the vomiting/diarhea.

An important thing to remember

if your baby is vomiting - anything you put in will probably come back out. More than likely, on your carpet, furniture and clothes.

Pedialyte makes a clear, unflavored versions of their products. See where I’m going with this?

You can make things easier on yourself if you buy the clear version of Pedialyte. Sure, there will still be a sticky, disgusting mess, but you won’t have to be reminded of it for another few years by a big stain in the middle of your floor.

We gave my son purple Pedialyte and red Gatorade while he was vomiting, and we’ve got the stains on our floor to prove it. Just another thing to keep in mind when you’re out shopping for your baby’s diet while he’s sick.

I hadn't thought of that.  Clear makes sence! But does it have a flavor? My daughter is two, and taste is everything.  I just got back with the orange kind.  It hasn't come back up...yet. Hopefully it wont stain too much.  I have lots of towels in preporations.

great idea. I had to use pedialyte for the first time a few days ago with my 7 month olds, when the whole family got the stomach flu. Glad I got the clear one...   would have made quite a mess if it had been colored.

No Stains
I have personally not heard of Pedialyte but this news would have been great when my bub was younger as a renter I spent lots of money on carpet stain removers etc... great advice will be having a look at the pharmacy next visit to see if it is there I don't think it is available in Australia.
