Daddy Baby Bonding Tips

Anonymous Author (April 2007)
We all know that dads have a lot more trouble bonding with baby than we do. It was certainly the case in my house. Daddy would come home from work and not know what to do with this little man who just layed there or cried. It's hard for daddies because
WE do the feeding and the nursing and the cuddling and the soothing in the first few months. Here is some tips to help daddy bond.

Have a shower/bath together
Something that is so simple but can build a real bond. Let daddy take a bath with baby every night instead of a baby bath :)

Give a night time bottle
If your breastfeeding why not express. Its just one bottle and it will help daddy and baby bond. Not only that but you get a rest. Just sit up at that time and express a bottle. If your bottle feeding get some well earned and needed sleep!

Strap on the baby carrier
Babies feel safe when held close. So get him to strap on the baby pouch and walk around talking/singing to baby.

Change the nappies
Hehe let them change the day or night nappies. Use this time for him to sing, play and talk to baby.

Be snap happy
Take lots of photos of baby and daddy.

Let him do the bed time story
Its something so special to any child and parent. That bed time story. Let him do it. It will become their routine and build a really strong bond.
