The things I wish I knew beforehand about morning sickness...

Heather by Heather Walking(February 2006) (rank 500+)
One of my friends became pregnant on her honeymoon when travelling overseas - I remember her telling me that she was really disappointed not to be able to eat all the wonderful spicy foods.

At the time, I thought "what a load of rubbish - morning sickness is a
fallacy”...well I learnt later -  it isn't!

The things I wish I knew beforehand about morning sickness were:
  • morning sickness is real!
  • I experienced worse effects when I was tired/ run down….
  • ...which also meant morning sickness for me was generally in the late afternoon!
  • Preparing the evening meal in the morning meant I didn’t have to face meat etc. when I was at my worst.
  • Having lots of small snacks really works!
  • Drinking Dry Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer worked for me,
  • The same things don’t work for every pregnancy.
- For my first son - milk products  were the answer – I was constantly eating small tubs of yoghurt, drinks of milk and cheese – I was instantly sick if I had a drink of water.

 - For my second son milk products didn’t really do it, and I learnt that I needed to drink 2-3 litres of a water a day?!?)

The good news that morning sickness for most people does seem to end after about 4months… unfortunately for some this leads straight into reflux – but that’s another story!

Thank goodness I am a male
Thank goodness I am a male and not female. I truely believe mankind would no longer be around if it were up to the males to bare the children. Well done to all the females.

Great advice
I agree, those things really worked for me (ginger ale) and I will take note of the differences in what to eat to help with morning sickness when I'm pregnant again for bub number 2. It is amazing to hear that it was competely the opposite. I will definitely take heed on that.
