you need to take prenatal vitamins, and take folic acid. the prenatal vitamins will give your unborn child most of the vitamins that it will need. Take the folic acid, to help reduce the risk of different birth defects, such as spinabifida. < - - - im not sure if
thats how you spell it.
Also you have to start eattin properly if your not already.. Like eat a variety of different things, from your food groups. and cut out as much junk food as you can. You want a healthy baby and this is the start to it. DONT EVER skip any meals, no matter how "fat" you think your getting.. your not getting fat your are just getting more and more pregnant. If you skip meals you are "starving" not only youself but your child as well. KEEP in mind that when your hungry your baby is hungry as well. But when your tired, or sleep doesnt mean your baby is. I always keep that in mind because sometimes ill be really tired, and i think well i have to sleep because my baby is tired... no.. but you still should sleep when your tired, because your going to need it when you get into the last months and after your baby is born. You also need lots of sleep for when you're awake, so that you have enough energy to get through the day, and exercise. Which brings me to the next topic.
Exercise as much as you can because, it will help you through the pregnancy and labor. You can do light exercises, yoga, pilates, swimming, walking, biking, things like that. This is not the time to over do it, or push yourself. Stetch before you exercise, so that you dont cause injury to yourself. and drink lots of water. By exercising throughout your pregnancy, this will help with the achs and pains of pregnancy. It helps get your blood flowing, and oxygen running through your body. And for labor, doctors, instructors, and everybody else tells me it will help your labor go easier and hopfully quicker. Do your kegals. If you dont know what those are.. its pretty much queezing the muscles that you use to go pee, and releasing them. You need your pelvic floor to be strong, so that the doctors will less likely need to perform an episiotomy (which is a small incision at the opening of your vagina to make more room for the baby to come out, so that you dont tear, which can be sometimes more painful, harder to stitch up, and harder to heal).
Go to as many prenatal classes as you can, of any kind, because they can really help you through your pregnancy, by giving your reassurance, you asking any questions, and most will give your support, or resouces, for anything that you may need.
These are only some of the things that you need to do. If you want more information, i have posted some sites on here. Some of my favourites are ivillage.com, and babycenter.com.
