better safe then sorry

LISA722 by LISA722 Speaking(April 2007) (rank 500+)

I have recently had friends ask about braxton hicks and have noticed on Q&A that it has also been asked about so i thought that i would share what i know and what i have learnt.

1: There is never a possitive way to know if cramps

are braxton hicks or the real deal the reason i say this is due to what i found with my second daughter

At about 30-31 weeks i started to get cramps in the lower part of my tummy around the hip/waist area and put it down to braxton hicks and tried a number of things that should of help reduce them but only seemed to make them worse. Even some nights i would wake because of these braxton hicks.

At around 33-34 weeks they got so bad that i couldn't walk without my partners help which sucked. Finally went to my local hospital to the maternity ward where i found out that it wasn't braxton hicks that it was indeed premature labour and had to be stopped, was given a needle to help the pain of the cramps and also this little pink tablet to stop the bub that tasted like chalk.

But i guess what i am saying is that it is better to get these type of things checked as soon as it is noticed and before it's too late and also most hospitals won't deliever if under 36 weeks
