How to pack and move with little children in the house |

We finally sold our house and have a few short weeks before we have to move. It is a little daunting realizing that the entire contents of our home must be packed up and ready to go in just three weeks. How can we ever do it with a toddler

running around everywhere and a crying infant needing attention?
- Find tasks that your toddler can do to help. There is so much to pack and it isn't very helpful to have a toddler who is unpacking everything behind you as you move along. We decided to give Ethan some packing responsibilities of his own. He seems to have toys in every room so we gave him a box and told him to "pack" up his toys. Then we gave him some tape and he spent quite a long time taping up his box. We gave him a crayon to "label" his box and he spent over a half hour coloring his box. He felt like he was contributing and he was no longer under our feet.
- Carry your infant around in a sling or a baby backpack. Sometimes baby is happy to just be near you. "Wearing" baby helps baby be close and helps you keep both of your hands free.
- When all else fails, put aside some time to just focus on the kids. If your kids are crying a lot, you aren't going to get much done. Sometimes our children just need our attention for a little while. If I sit down on the floor with Ethan and help him play with his blocks for just 30 minutes, he may be able to play on his own for a few hours. A few hours can mean being able to pack an entire room.
What ideas do you have to make our packing easier? I can use all the tips I can get. Feel free to share in the comments.
