Lavender oil

iancherine by iancherine Talking(May 2007) (rank 500+)

A few weeks ago while watching sunrise I learnt something very interesting that I thought I should share with all of you. Dr. Karl was on talking about ways to get rid of cockroaches. someone emailed Dr. Karl saying they use lavender oil to keep cockroaches at bay. Dr Karl said that this is fine as long as there aren't too many boys around.

Apparently, according to Dr Karl (the man that knows everything) lavender oil has female hormones in it and boys exposed to too much lavender oil can be affected by this.

I was so surprised at hearing this as a lot of baby products have lavender oil in them. What is it doing to our boys????

Re: Lavender oil
I'd heard about the Tea Tree Oil, not about the lavender oil. Another thing which isnt so "pure" and "natural" in reality! I was just reading the TV Guide and on British TV there's a C4 Prog called How Toxic Are You coming up next Thursday (8pm) all about chemicals in our shampoos, cleaners etc, which I shall try to remember to get off Minti to watch! Time to get back to Hot water and elbow grease I think!

Re: Lavender oil
I've actually read this elsewhere - can't remember where.  I've told friends - and even my GP - and they were all horrified.  We all see it as the safe oil and use it all the time but apparently it boosts production of oestrogen - weird huh!  So, be moderate in your use of it around your sons!!

WOW, ok.....sheeze....

OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MY SON!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it amazing the things that we "think" are safe....

I wonder how much lavender it would take though. In baby products its more a scent of lavender.....I guess the roaches bait would be pure - wouldn't it???? Hmmmm gonna be looking this one up for sure

Thanks for letting us know

Better rewash my little-man's sheets before dad finds out!  Thanks for the info.

Lavender oil...

Lavender oil and tea tree oils have been indicated in the development of gynecomastia or abnormal breast development in boys.  The compounds found in them are similar to female hormones and supress male hormones.  They have also been indicated in the early development of breasts in girls.  Because sex hormones are low in children, they are more sensitve to the effects.  Stopping use of these products can quickly reverse the effects in boys.

Lavender oil

Yes I did hear something about this too ,apparently a mother used lavender oil soap and shampoo and other products her son started developing breasts and they put it down to the lavender  oil .Becoz I remember making a joke of it at the time  saying maybe ,if I rubbed it into my breast they might get bigger lol (wishful thinking lol)
