head lice

winja by winja Talking Back(May 2007) (rank 52nd)

headlice arrgh it is soo annoying, chloes school has had an epidemic so i thought id share a few tips that i use to keep it all under control.

  • after conditioning your childs hair comb through with a lice comb everytime this will shift any eggs as they cannot hatch if they are not close to the scalp.
  • use the two pronged lice combs as they get the eggs off better.
  • change head lice treatments every second time you use them as the lice will adapt.
  • use a spray bottle with a few drops of tea tree oil mixed with water on your childs hair before they go to school.
  • wash bedding after every outbreak.
  • buy a robi comb they are expensive and wont do much for the eggs but will aradicate any live lice in the hair.
  • if one person in the family has lice treat everyone at once even if u cant see lice in the other family members hair.
  • alert the school of any outbreaks.

Re: head lice
Good advice, lice are the bane of all parents, what annoys me is when other parents don't make the effort to clean their kids hair!!

Re: head lice
This has been an ongoing problem for us in the last 3 weeks. Every single time the girls go back to preschool they come home infested again. I have told the preschool about it and it still keeps happening. I have refused to send them back until I know its completely gone. The lice treatments are expensive and we can't go near other children.
Thankyou for this.

headlice
Great Tips and yes girls seem to get them the worse as there hair is longer... Another way of ridding them is put teatree, conditioner and warm water in a spray bottle and spray it on the hair each day, as lice hate the smell.
