Kindness- Thoughtfulness & Respect, I believe if taught at a young age are great qualities that will hold you in good stead for life and will reward you twofold.
KINDNESS & THOUGHTFULNESS, I think the best way i can explain these emotion's is by telling you
a story.
I do my shopping every friday morning and up until about 2 years ago i use to take a elderly neighbour (Elma 78years) with me so i could help her do her shopping as she had no family. So every friday we would set off to do our shopping. Elma knew another elderly lady ( Edna 82 years ) which in turn i was introduced to.
So the three of us would be going around the supermarket aisle's when i would hear my name being called by Edna "Janice I Need You" so off i'd trot to which ever aisle she was in, i forgot to mention these ladies were all of 5 ft nothing, she couldn't reach many items as the shelves were to high for both of them. So around the aisle's we would go with my name being called here and there and me it turn going to help them. I fail to mention these ladies had a sense of humour and would have a dig at me about something, so my shopping day's were filled with laughter and knowing i was helping these beautiful ladies.
Two years ago Edna became so frail she ended up in our local retirement village, i could not think of this beautiful person in there with no family to visit her, so i started to visit her every week and as soon as i came into the room her face would light up like a xmas tree. I would spend time with her, we would have a laugh and i felt so good when i left her. In this time i made a point to visit her when the vilage had their xmas luncheon so she knew she was not on her own for that special time of year., we would xmas lunch together.
Well my story of Edna ended a week ago as she passed away, but i feel honoured to have know her and the thing i will miss the most is her smile when i would walk into her room.
As for Elma i visit with her daily as she lives across the road, my husband and i have been there for her many a time, i love her like my second Mum.
I do hope out of my story you can find the advice i'm trying to put across.
Respect,
I was always taught to respect your elder's, which i did and that i passed down to my children.
I was told that your elders have been around alot longer than me and that they have knowledge and wisdom to
teach you if you take the time to sit and listen.
Kindest Regards Janice
