Anxiety and teens...The Brave Program...

cookclan by cookclan Young Parent(May 2007) (rank 8th)

Around 10% of teenagers and young kids are so anxious that it affects their daily lifestyle...Had times where you yourself feel anxiou? Well an anxiety disorder is a really intense type of that..For weeks before something happens you can be panicing about it..Even trying really hard to get out of the actual thing you are fearing...People with an anxiety disorder actually make themselves sick with worry it is that intense...

In a young child or teenager this anxiety disorder will affect their schooling...The fear of being wrong might leave them unable to answer things  in class...Take a test or even to scare ot attend school...This disorder can also affect their social activities leaving them unable to go to school camps school parties even school dances...This can even lead to a form of depression or mayebe even some sort of drug abuse...

I have found this site and program that claims to help kids with this...And in this house I have learnt not to knock anything to until you try it so thought I would share it with you..

You can read about this program here...Please take a look as I do know as most of struggle through the teenage years without this being another factor in thos already hard years for us or for our teenager...Below are a few facts about anxiety I found on the site...

  •  With all the illnesses and health problems kids can get anxiety is the most common amont t
  •  It is believed that 1 in 10 teenagers have anxiety problems
  •  It doesn't matter how old you are we have anxiety at some time in our lives
  •  It is normal to feel anxious at some time...In some situations it can actually help you
  •  The real time where it is a problem is when it interferes in your daily life
  •  Once again when a teenager experience anxieousness it is really hard to make a call on what they are worried about or if it is just defiance
  •  There is alot of types of anxiety and on this site it shows a few of them to you....

This was just a subject I wanted to share with you all and let you read and make your own judgement...Please do have a readit is very interesting for sure...

Have a great day
Cheers
Angie

Re: Anxiety and teens...The Brave Program...
Hi Everyone, This is my first time posting.  I came across this post and wanted to share a little of my experience with anxiety and depression.  I started experiencing depressive episodes since I was 13 and then later began experiencing major panic attacks and anxiety.  Throughout my ordeal, I've learned a lot about anxiety, depression, symptoms, medication and treatments. I created a website a few weeks ago to share all the information I learned and what chronic anxiety and panic attacks feel like, and what they are not.

the website is Anxiety Relief and Support resource

Thanks
GraceJ
