EEG Biofeedback...Get your Brain into gear...

cookclan by cookclan Young Parent(May 2007) (rank 11th)

I went to the Psychologist the other day and picked up a piece of paper from her that talks about something that would be of great help to me I feel and thought after a few things I have read on the internet could be of great help to other

with similar situations...There are a few things this can help and has evidence to back it up so I thought once again I will share what I have found....

The thing I am talking about Is called EEG Biofeedback...

EEG Biofeedback is a learning strategy that makes a person able to change their brain waves...When you know all about your own brain patterns...You can learn to change them...You could probably call this excersise for the grey matter in your body LOL...It is also called Neurofeedback or even neurotherapy....

EEG biofeedback is used for alot of conditions and even some disabilities that the brain does not work as well as it could or should...It is safe for bith adults and kids alike..There is a list of disorders that have clinical evidence of EEG Bifeedback helping with some of them even have scientific evidence...These include...

  • Learning difficulties
  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Sleep disorders
  • Autoimmune dysfunctions
  • Conduct disorder
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Chronic pain
  • Epilipsy
  • Stroke
  • Tourettes syndrome

This is painless and a non invasive procedure...All that is done is a couple of sensors are put onto the scalp of the patient and onto each ear...The brain waves are then watched and monitored with a computer program and amplifier...The actual way from here that this procedure is preformed is confusing for me so please check out the link here to read for yourself....

Lastly The reason this procedure works is that the brain is adaptable and obviously is capable of learning....Therefore learning to improve its own preformance is possible...This procedure gives it the cues to help it change...When you make information available to the brain and ask it to make adjustments it will...

When I had my brain tumour there was a bit of damage done to my once very active brain LOL...I am going to give this procedure a go and see if I can get help with this for me...I will keep you posted...But if there is a disorder listed above that you or one of your loved ones have and need help with...Wouldn't it be worth having a look into yourself?

Once again these are just my thoughts and feelings on something I wanted to share with you all...Something that interested me immensly...How about you is this something you think worth looking into? Let me know in the comments below....

Have a great day
Cheers
Angie
