Making taking medication fun or young children

mrs-connell by mrs-connell Speaking(May 2007) (rank 500+)

Hello all

I am writing this piece of advice because I used to have so much trouble getting my 2 year old daughter to take medication for a cold or an infection.

I have found that if you get a cold & flu syrup & it has a colour then tell them the there toung will turn what ever colour that the medication is.

In my case I give my daughter the Demazin Infant Syrup which comes in blue or colour free.

I got the blue one by accident one day but I thought I would give it a try maybe she will take it, I told her that if she took it her toung would got blue, she was reluctant but took it & then I took her to the bathroom & showed her the blue toung & ever since I have had not trouble at all getting her to take medication when she needs it.

So if you have trouble getting your little one to take medication try what I have suggested it just might work for you like it did me.

Good luck

Hi Jacki, great advice! I will definitely try this if Isabella refuses her medicine in the future! I hardly give it to her, but she's usually reluctant to take Panadol. Not sure if it changes her tongues colour, so we'll see. Thanks, Kylie *
