Advice for those with the dreaded stretch-marks |

Stretchmarks are a scar which forms within the deeper layers of the skin called Collagen Fibres. Collagen Fibres are your skins support which helps with elasticity, But these fibres can start fraying when there is excessive stress brought onto the skin due to rapid growth. These fibres can also break
due to repetitive stress and tension which makes the skin look torn and purple.
Pregnant women are on top of the list as most vulnerable to get the dreaded stretchmarks, but the next groups at risk are teenagers undergoing growth spurts during adolescence and women who have put on a lot of weight rapidly.
Men are definitely not immune to them, but women are more likely to get them due to the more bodily functions that happen to them that are more likely to stretch the skin.
The bad news is that you can't help getting them in the first place: stretch marks are hereditary.
The best way to pre-determine that you are more likely to get them during pregnancy, is to actually ask your mother, as you usually inherit her skins elasticity.
There is nothing much you can do about getting your stretchmarks to disappear as tests show that most creams and remidies do not work (they can help them fade but as for the tear in the Fibrous tissue, it cannot be repaired).
Just remember.... more than 70% of pregnant women get stretch marks... I myself look like i have been dragged behind a race-car over gravel LOL! But there are people out there in the same (if not, worse) situation than ourselves... Stretchmarks fade in time and also adapt to the colour of your skin in more time....
As for me, i am still waiting for mine to fade after 2 years. But i wear mine with pride now, it really goes to show how cool our bodies are to be capable of keeping a little baby within
Big hugs to all, and thanks for reading,
