Stress

hermy by hermy Talking Back(June 2007) (rank 46th)

Stress is defined as any condition that places undue strain on the body…..

Physical Symptoms;

n      Palpitations, shortness of breath

n      Rapid breathing, dizziness or light headedness

n      Tingling sensation in the hands and

or feet

n      Chronic backache and neck pain

n      Frequent headaches

n      Diarrhoea or constipation

n      Digestive problems

Psychological Symptoms;

n      Difficulty in making decisions

n      Sleep problems

n      Fatigue

n      Anxiety

n      Changes in appetite

n      Increased reliance on alcohol, nicotine or other drugs

n      Difficulty coping

n      Decreased enjoyment in things

  Ways to try and relive stress;

n      Make sure you eat regular healthy meals

n      Take a multivitamin and mineral supplement

n      Do some sitting meditation

n      Try and get some time out

n      Exercise regularly (this increases endorphins)

n      Listen to you favourite music (also helps with endorphins)

n      Try and have a person you can talk with

n      Make a list of the things that you need to do for the day….do one item at a time, if you don’t get to do all the things on your list , put the rest on your next days list

           Occasional challenges are not unhealthy. Arguments, difficulty with children, difficulty at school or work, are a normal part of life. These types of stresses can be strengthening.

              Most people will recover once the stressor has been identified, and removed. The key is to seek help early.

                    I hope this helps…………..
