Holidaying in Sydney ? What to do in my town

Deborahsc2203 by Deborahsc2203 Talking Back(June 2007) (rank 47th)

Hello

Here I go, my part to the series Holidaying in ....................? What to do in my town.....

There is many place's to see and visit here in Sydney

But here ill list a few  All three i have listed here is located right in the heart of the city

Darling Harbour  here you will be able to find many places to shop eat and go on tours  see the chinese gardens, even take a whale watching tour on one of their boats its easy to spend a whole day there .also located at Darling harbour is the .....

The Sydney Aquarium

There is over 11,500 animals including huge sharks and rays, platypus, seals, fairy penguins, crocodiles ,  You can book a guided tour or just take your time to explore everything it has to offer .    In the shark tanks you will be able to walk through tunnels while the sharks and giant stingrays   are above your head swimming .arround ,The tanks that hold all the fish and Animals are enormous .

There is also tunnels where the seals are located    ,and you will also be able to view them above water level as well ,      Sydney Aquarium also has two interactive touch pools which are a great hit with the kids   ,I love this place soo much that I have got myself a year pass i can go as many times as i like  with my two year old ,its already payed itself off many times,   If you are realy gutsy book yourself in to have a swim with the sharks.

           Bridge climb

would you like to conquer an Australian icon ? Then  Sydney harbour bridge climb is the place for you  it takes 3 and a half hours from start From check-in, to break all of this down it takes about two hours to reach the top of the Bridge. The first hour includes a comprehensive briefing and safety demonstration, followed by an hour walking to the top. ,Even if you have a fear of heights   Every Bridge leader   is specifically trained to care for Climbers with a fear of heights.please notify your leader before you climb.

The Climb is completely safe as you will be supported all the way to the top. When you reach the summit and see the city set out below, you’ll have an amazing sense of accomplishment that you’ve never felt before.Once you reach the top you will be 134 meters above the harbour itself with views of 360 degree's, you cant take any personal items on the climb they will provide lockers for you and they will also take your picture at the top of the climb. You will also be wearing a Bridge suit , its for the saftey harnesses not pretty  To look at but dont worry everyone has to wear one and you wear it over your clothes , they take you though the ins and outs of everything before you even begin your climb and go through medical checks ,There are differnt times you can go Sunrise ( Dawn ),Daytime ,sunset and nightime. The oldest Person To climb the bridge was A 100 year old Lady , she was fit enough to do the climb wow now thats amazing.

Paddy's markets

Here you will be able to grab a bargin and shop till your hearts content

clothing, CDs, flowers, homewares, sunglasses, jewellery , fruit and Vegetables and also souvenirs ,you can also grab a bite to eat while you are there ,above the markets there is also a shopping centre .paddy's markets is a place also full of history ,

Its been in the Haymarket area for 150 years , it first started off with selling second hand goods ,The origin of Paddy's as a distinct market dates back to 1834 when Governor Bourke decided to move traders in hay and grain to a site next to the new cattle market in Campbell Street, Sydney. The move created a split among stallholders within the "fringe" market. Some had regular customers among the cattlemen and hay and grain growers, and they moved to join farmers in the new Haymarket area. The food sellers and second hand dealers also did a good trade, both in the vicinity of the market house and around the Haymarket pubs. The majority, however, stayed on at the George Street market. The best time day to go there is a sunday or public Holiday Monday .

Well thats my bit on what to do while your in Sydney like i said before there is soo much more to do but i will let the other Minti Mothers and fathers to Continue where i have left off .Debbie

Re: Holidaying in Sydney ? What to do in my town
The aquarium is so cool, and that whole area is awesome now - the amount of things around there, it has become the jewel in Sydney's crown if you ask me, day time fun and night life entertainment... I won't name places or say anything more - someone else can do that.

Re: Holidaying in Sydney ? What to do in my town

 Great advice Deb

I haven't been to Sydney since 1999 when I was pregnant with my 2nd baby Lachlan. I love Sydney! It has so many good places to go. My mum visits there a few times a year and always brings home bargains. Darling Harbour has so much to offer, especially the shops there!

I'll be sure to give ya a call, if I visit there again! He he he
