Hmmm following on from Debs excellent article and anyone else who decided to take part of course ...I am l probably going more kid orientated cause of my munchkins
We love nothing better than to go in a spend the day absorbing the sights and sounds...... My kids
love water and so we often go in and spend the day on the harbor...... we jump on a ferry to Manly which is an awesome 35 min trip up to the mouth of the harbor...It can get quite bumpy which we all love.......Once we arrive at manly we have lunch sitting beside the water and play on the sand and then we we jump back on the ferry and get back to the CBD..... we usually then jump on the next ferry to Darling Harbor ...we are really water lovers in my family...Its in our blood
My fav place for mums that need a break and Kids that have to much energy is Tumbalong Park...located in the center of Darling harbor its a massive construction that kids just flock to and mine are no exception...... From here you can see the beautiful water fountains all thru Darling harbor you can lie on the grass and relax...there are coffee shops for mum and maccas and the like for the kids...My kids love playing here and the best thing if its free apart from a coffee ( try bringing a picnic lunch to make it a free day)
Hmmmmm where to next? o.k Powerhouse museum.......It costs approx $25 family but kids under 5 are free......which for a full day out is a bargain in my eyes...especiially when the kids spend it learning....Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum near Darling Harbour is just a couple of minutes walk or get on the monorail..they have a building section for the 3s to 5s (they build a house using big tools) and there is the most awesome playground right next to the cafe......The museum is very interactive and your kids get to push buttons etc to make it really fun......Its also pram friendly
I have to be fair and not take lots of Sydney up so maybe ill stop last at the Australian Museum...Having a child like my son who loves to learn these places are the best in my eyes...Its right near Hyde park and again its only $25 for a family (under 5s free)...Every weekend there are hands-on creative activities for kids. These range from take-home, craft activities, to a fossil dig, to hand painting. There is an area called Kidspace that is a mini museum for stimulating under-5s to investigate the natural world. There are family day sessions during school terms for under 5s on thursdays...this holiday they have a special theatre show. Its prehistoric creatures (full body puppets) and large-scale inflatable plants, evocative soundscapes, large projections and dramatic lighting and the prices are really good....for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids its just $35.00.
Well thats just a few of my favourite places in Sydney...I could go on but i will stop.........
