Family Survival Tips..

cazza by cazza Talking(June 2007) (rank 29th)
It is easier to look after your childs needs these days if you can look after yours as well.. Here om going to suggest some ideas of mine that i use in my household so my children and i are happy and content.....

.Work as a team.

Parenting is easier when you have a supportive partner, and if you dont have one but have your child in childcare/ cared for its a great idea for both parties to work together, support each other, and back each other up with each othes parenting skills/care skills. Before coming up with any new ways to improve your childs wellbeing/behaviour always discuss it with your partner/support person ..

.Avoid arguements in front of your child/children.

Children are very sensitive to adult conflict....They become distressed, agitated, and scared...So if possible try and discuss any major issues away from your child/children...

.Get support....

Everyone needs support in raising children.. Partners,Family, Friends, and Neighbours can be great support at times when you need it.. Also other parents that meet in a community environment can also be supportive role in your families life... Its always good to have a suportive person that you can call on and discuss any thing that has to do with your self and family..

This next one is the most important  for you and your family as i know that i feel better when i do this..

Take a break.

Everyone deserves a break and time away from their family..This is normel and healthy.. Knowing that your child is well cared for and be given quality time with their carer will make a huge difference for your child.. So grab that coffee that you wish for, make that hair appointment that is way overdue, ring a girlfriend and go retail shopping... Find time for you...

As its the quality of time that you spend with your child that is the most important thing in their lives- not the amount of time...

Hope these ideas have helped and remember no one parent is perfect, and we all different...

Re: Family Survival Tips..

Fantastic Cazza!!!

My husband is great at giving me time out from home or the kids. He will either take the kids out for a few hours while I stay at home Minti-ing with the music blaring......which for me is great de-stressor or I'll go out for the day with friends. I'm very lucky to have him Unfortunately we don't get a lot of time with just him and I as we don't really have anyone to look after the boys. We will one day!!!

Re: Family Survival Tips..

Well done Cazza, great advice. Marriage is a partnership so its nice if both parties support each other.

I cartainly agree with you about time out, your own free space to do what  nothing  at all of you wish or do as much as you like!

Regards Janice

Re: Family Survival Tips..
Hi mate,

Great tips!!! You know tony and I have been married for 10 yrs and we have NEVER had a disagreement in front of the kids . .  My eldest told me we were freaks because we never argued. My responese was "no honey we are not freaks, we just know how to communicate and talk things out" . . .  Her mouth dropped open and off she walk . . . he he he

We follow all these tips and I know it leads to a happier home . . .

Cheers Kellz

yes i agree to to back each other up as that important as well , i don't like disagreeing in front of the kids i rather disgust it later then talk to the kids , and your right there about time with the kids its don't the time you spend with but what you do togther as a family .
