Baby Shower Ideas

jsmommy by jsmommy Talking(July 2006) (rank 500+)

I am in need of some fun baby shower ideas. I don't want to throw the same old shower. I want something fun and different. Any ideas?

Here are some fun things to try if you're planning a baby shower.

Create a "Moms Know Best" Book.

Ask each guest to write down their best piece of parenting advice for the expectant mom.

Take a picture of each guest as they arrive. Tell them to have fun. Smile, make a silly face, or just pose. Once the picture has developed, tape it to a page in your memory book. Have your guest write down a few words of wisdom for the mommy-to-be. Again, have fun. Don't think too long. "Things like, "Don't be afraid to ask for help," or "Do one thing for yourself everyday," are just what a new mom needs to hear. Then, tell your guests to decorate their page with some cute stickers. You can find tons of great stickers at any craft store in the scrapbook section. Who wants to stare at a boring white page anyway? When all the guests have finished, tie a ribbon around the book and viola! A beautiful book made with lots of love.

Baby's First Piggy Bank

Bring a ceramic piggy bank to the shower and have each guest decorate it. You can also ask them to empty their pockets and put the spare change in the bank.

Baby Book Library

Have each guest bring a copy of their favorite children's book to the shower. Make sure to include a reminder in each invitation. You can pick up a few oversized baskets to display the books as each person arrives. You can also ask guests to write a little note to the baby, why you chose this book or a favorite memory of his/her new mommy.

Re: Baby Shower Ideas
I love your ideas.   Here is a cute Baby Shower Scrapbook Idea submitted from visitors of my website.

Have a MEN VS WOMEN baby shower scrapbook contest and the object was to come up with the best baby scrapbook pages. Well the trick of it all was the girl were not really going to participate.  Let women just see what the men would come up with.   The game went through about six or seven scrapbooks separately before guys started actually putting their ideas together.

The outcome?

The mom-to-be loved the scrapping pages the men came up with and they took all the pictures from the coed baby shower and used the pages they decorated.  And she said it was the best gift she had ever seen hand made and given at a Shower.

Have fun,

great ides

We did that advice idea at my wedding shower and my baby shower. It's so fun to look back at what everyone wrote!

Another fun idea- buy a bunch of white onsies before the shower and some fabric paint. Have everyone decorate a onsie for the new baby. There are some pretty creative people out there and some great onsies to be made!

great ideas
I love the painting idea....sounds like awesome fun.  SO many people think that they are not creative, then you ask them to do something like this and they realise that there is a little creativity in their little finger and that it makes them feel so so good.  I lvoe this idea.  Now looking for an occasion to adapt it to!!
Peace
