Well i have written an article about the puberty talk with my girls so I thought I should write one for the boys also...Those little boys you see running around the yard or park now will be running around the park soon looking at every pretty girl that passes by or
sticking their chest out for the girl looking over there LOL...It is inevitable...Puberty will come...And when it does look out!! No not really...But before it does is the time to have the pre puberty talk with your boys...
Sexuality is a condition...I affects the way you look, act and feel...If your boy understands these changes they are going through it will make it alot easier for them to understand and cope with puberty...
Here is what we did with our boys...
Firstly we talked to them about how their genitals will get bigger..To which we were promptly told DER..LOL...We then went on to talk to them about how the hair all over their bodies would get thicker and be growing in more places like under their arms, on their genitals and maybe even on their chests...They might even get a line of hair that growns from their belly button down to their genital area as well...They need to know that that voice will get deeper and they even will get a more defined neck as the adams apple becomes more prominent...Then we went on to tell them that they can now produce sperm...Which means they can now make babies...They were also told that they may get pimples not only on their faces but on their backs and even their chests...
The next thing we talked to the boys about was the thoughts and feelings that go on in the mind of a boy going through puberty...the emotions and the way girls will look better to them and they might get urges to hold hands cuddle and even touch the opposite gender...We expalined to the boys as we did the girls that while boys go through puberty it is not unusual for them to look at a male and find them attractive...it is more of an admiration of another guys body and it does not mean they are homosexual...
This is just a shortened version of what was told to the boys...Obviously there was alot fo questions and a little bit of ribbing from Aidan as he was our first try at the puberty talk...Hehe...Two years after it got alot easier with John hehe...
Good luck with the puberty talk and I hope it gets easier as time goes by with you and you do the puberty talk with your children...Just remember this is the stepping stone to keeping the lines of communication open between you and your child...So be open and honest and be that way when answering any of your childrens questions also...
Just wanted to share with you all...
Have a great day
Cheers
