It is scary but the natural alternatives are usually really expensive. Some of the additives that they put into our food does concern me too.

This is true, the alternatives can be expensive to but -but if you make them yourself you will be surprised at how inexpensive they really are! And easy too, some of them you would never think of yourself but make complete sense!

Great Em! It's really disappointing that our day to day products have all these harmful things in them. Working in a chemist (until I had the kids) I found a lot of great alternatives - natural products - that you can get from your pharmacy or health food store. You can also get a lot online if you look. But, you can make a lot of you own products too - you can search online for sites that tell you how, or you can buy books. I make a lot of my own things & I don't use chemical cleaning products - I use Enjo products & good old vinegar, bicarb soda and lemon juice!

I always use homemade soaps hair product etc. I get them from ebay, and they're all natural and healthy.

Yes it's pretty scary some of those ingredients. There are alternatives and you are not likely to find them in the supermarket.  They do require a bit more searching out and you do get what you pay for I guess.

Re: Whats in the products we use.
There are some good toiletry products that are now readily available that don't contain sodium lauryl phosphate or isthenate in them.  (These are petroleum based products from memory).

Unfortunately they don't do a lot of marketing, and they tend to be quite pricey in comparison to the average product you can buy at the supermarket.

Unfortunately many can only be sourced at health food stores, however you can find some online as well - so check them out.
