Understanding toddler behaviour

AZMom by AZMom Talking(June 2007) (rank 141st)

As James has just turned one, I am by no means an expert on this, I like all of you will be very much learning on the job!!

However, I bought a fantastic book called 'Toddler taming: a parents guide to the first four years' by Dr Christopher Green,

it was recommended by my midwife and I have found it great reference material as to what I can expect!

This book is well written with support of studies and anecdotal pieces from Dr Green's experience. Unlike other parenting books it is not prescriptive, it has enabled me to stand back and understand elements of what makes a toddler tick, the origins of toddler behaviour and coping strategies. For me understanding what is happening from a toddlers perspective is key to how I react to events (or hope to react!!)

I do not want to fall foul of copyright laws, so I will not go too much into the content, but if you get the chance, I highly recommend you have a read of it.

Sounds great, will try to find it in Australia.  Thanks Lorna, I think it will be a valuable tool to have under the belt.

YES... this is an excellent book. another good one for young parents particularly if they have a 'challenging child' is the book the explosive child but sadly I can't remember the authors name!
