Boys have a Penis and Girls have a Vagina...The real names and why...

When our kids are little we teach them alot of things...Numbers, Letters, Colours, about nature and body parts...We teach them their nose...By touching it and saying it well thats how i did it...We teach them all the names of their body parts and for some reason alot of us find the need to find a Nikname for their genitals...I know they might sound nicer than the proper names for them but here is what I have now taught all of my kids...

Boys have a Penis and Girls have a Vagina...The real names and why...

My eldest was interferred with when he was younger and he told me of what happened...While we were in the interview with the police officer in charge of the investigation he asked him to tell him what he did...My sons answer to him was "He touched my Johhny George" The police officer looked at me and then he said to my son and "What is your Johnny George mate" My sons reply was "You know your Johnny George" He then had to go into detail with him to find out what he meant by Johnny George...He asked him to show him and he could but still this in a court room can be misconstrued in so many ways...

After the interview with my son was finished The police officer spoke to me and talked to me about using nik names for my childrens genitals...He told me not to do it..He said fair enough if after you have taught them the correct name for thier genitals you want to give them a nik name  but ALWAYS teach them the correct name to start with...

It makes sense really when you think about it because  just say we gave other parts of our bodies nik names like your arm...How would anyone else apart from you know what your child was talking about if they hurt it or there was pain in it?

So this is my advice to you...Teach your child all the correct words for their body parts from the beginning...God forbid that anything like what happened to my son will happen to your child...But is it not better to be safe than sorry...

Just wanted to share my expeirience with you all and something I learnt...

My hubby said we shouild teach our kids the correct names also, but I called it doodie to them so they can pronounce it.

You bring up very good points.  We use the proper name (vagina, I have a girl) but we also call it a fanny.  I never really thought of the importance of it though.  Great advice.

my two year old calls it his doody , or pee peee ,, its closer then a johnny , but its soo important i agree that they do know the correct names for everything xxxxxx they can get a little confussed

i was brought up with all sorts of names for my vagina and now my mum tells me off for teaching my kids their real names. i hated it as a kid. they were given names because my mum is embarised by it all. i prefer proper terms as you are right if something happens the police officer, doctor or who ever isnt going to know what the hell a "wigger or mickey fin" is.

Wonderful advise as always Angie. some parents dont understand the need for this.

My best friend was always taught they were "cream puffs" and "snags" so at a bbq when she was about 8 someone said to put a snag on the barbie and she nearly fainted! It was quite amusing when she told me why it upset her that they said that.  She was offered a cream puff by my mum and got all embarassed and said she didn't want one until mum put them on the table and she wanted one.  Then she found out what snags and cream puffs were and had to find out what her parts and her brothers' parts were called.  It was amusing as a bystander, not so for my friend who has taught her kids to say penis and vagina, but they also call them a fanny and doodle. She's got a mix of girls and boys.

I have to laugh at this topic

my son calls his his penis and girls he tells me have a venus...

Miss 2 has taken to telling me her bits hurt but then she also tried to tell me she had a penis..... i have since explained she is a girl and thus she has a vagina.....kids say the darndest things at times

Yep I taught my kids the proper names from the beginning and my mum was absolutely horrified. To this day she still calls anything to do with the genitals by other names.

haha oops! yep ive done it! ive told my daughter what a vagina is but she calls hers her front bum! hehe funny though she went to school and told her teacher that and the teacher said no its not called that (fair enough) but then corrected her by telling her from now on she should call it... a wee wee.....hmmm.

Well, this is an even more important reason for kids to be able to identify their genitalia correctly.  It is makes sense anyway, like we don't make up names for their eyes and ears etc do we?  Besides, their peers would only have another excuse to make fun of them if they found out they had nicknames or didn't know the proper names for them.

How do you go explaining the difference between an orgasm and an organism?  Or do you just advise that one comes after the other...

I have a funny story about that I have to share LOL Mum and I used to breed fish together and we got an organism in the tank that was attacking the fish so we went to the pet shop...Anyway mum was talking to the pet shop guy and told them she had an orgasim in our tank!!!!!!!!!! The poor fella nearly dies laughing i was nearly on the floor and here is my mum who is a prude so embarrassed ...it was hilarious...Makes for great chrissie chat too lol...

i have a tendancy to call them willies lol! but yes you are right, kids should learn the right names for their genitals and then they can make one up once they know what the proper name is :)

i believe in this completely.......even 18 years ago when i had my first baby.....all my children have been tought their private parts by their correct name.....i never really had a reason ....but that's how i did it.....great advice Angie.....regards Sandra xxx

Great advise angie and yes we are all guilty of calling their private parts names.....

Now you have taken the fun part away from me lol..... but no serious my kids do know what the real term is even when we do call it a diffrent name ..
