Rainy weekend - Activity Number 1: Uncooked Playdough

thehardyards by thehardyards Talking(June 2007) (rank 333rd)
So it is Sydney's third consecutive rainy weekend. Will it ever be sunny or a sun-day again???

Time to take action.

We killed 93 minutes (and probably as many dollars) seeing Shrek 3.

Then it was home time and a long afternoon of
fighting over toys and what dvd to watch next.

And then I had an idea...

Uncooked Playdough

Ingredients

1 cup plain flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tbspn cooking oil
A few drops of food colouring
1/2 cup water

Directions

• Mix the flour and salt together. Add the oil.
• Add the food colouring to the water, then add the coloured liquid, a little at a time to the flour mixture.
• Knead until the mixture is smooth and has the consistency of scone dough.
• Multiply the quantity by the number of children using the dough. Children can mix this themselves.

Kept them busy for about 2 hours, enough time for dh and I watch a movie. And cheap to make again when it dries out

I know the weather is a shocker as much as we need the rain, it's driving me batty, today we did the dvd thing and yes had the fights over what they would watch....  Then I killed about an hour making playdough but I cooked mine, I know have dyed red hands from the colouring but it's worth it when I had two of them busy for the afternoon.  Have never tried the uncooked Im sure it is a lot easier x
