A day to live.

sarahkate2202 by sarahkate2202 Speaking(June 2007) (rank 243rd)
I am new to writing, and advise is something that i would normally only give if someone asks a question, But here I feel the need to pleed and enplore you to take a moment and read my thoughts. Each and everyday that we wake up, we should be thankful, thankful
for the love in our lives, the families we have and our children. We never know when the daily routine of waking up, making breakfast, school lunches and all that washing becomes something that we cant do, and we miss it.  As the saying goes life flys by, and before we realise it; we are dying. For some of us, we wont be lucky to live to an old age watching our children grow. We have to cherish every moment, and live each day as though it is our last, it maybe a mundane task to make your husband his favouirte dinner, your child a tasty sandwhich or teach them to put their toys away. But these are the things we should take joy in, because before you realise it, it maybe taken away. Such a thing has recently happened to a friend of mine. No longer able to drive, No longer able to cook, or go down the street, or see her friends, her family or at the moment not able to speak. Due to a sudden onset of a life threating illness and being medically isolated for her safety. In this she made me realise how lucky I am, I have my health, My family, my friends, and has given me the opportunity to enjoy all i can. I hope that you are able to take a minute and appreciate the joy of having life, being able to taste, touch, smell, feel, teach, share and love those around you. If you only have the opportunity to do one small thing each day to make yourself and someone else happy, do so, because it may very well be the last chance you have to do it. Thank you for your time, and good luck in all your adventures.

Re: A day to live.

I always try to make each day count and let my loved one's know exactly how much I love them.  Trust me I have had my own experiences and I know this first hand. Thanks for the heads up for everyone else, we all have to hear it sometime.

Re: A day to live.
This is good advice, and we do need to be constantly reminded, so thank you for sharing it!  I tell you, from about 5pm onward, all I want to do is get Jaydee fed, read, and ready for bed!  It takes ages, because him and Stephen only get those few hours together, and no matter how tired he is, they get all hyped up.  Then about half an hour after he goes to bed - I miss him, and I can't wait for him to get up to play in the morning.  I get all mushy & say to Stephen, isn't he the cutest thing you've ever seen?  Today he learned this, he did this, he said this etc etc.  I constantly tell Jaydee that I am the luckiest Mumma in the whole world - I think we all are!  (Oh and you are lucky Daddy's too!).

Wonderful advice. There is joy in each & every little thing that makes up our day, the challenge is finding it & not taking it for granted. All these little things add up in the end. Best wished to your friend, I hope she can find positives out of her situation. Thank-you for a great article! Kylie

Re: A day to live.

thats absolutle correct whenever my kids get to me i stop and think of all the childless mums out there that would give anything to have a tantrum throwing child so i agree 100 % well written and well said and my thoughts are with your friend and her family.

Good luck xoxox
