Re: Toilet Training

Every child is different and will be trained at different stages in life. Yeah, i agree with mumto4. the advice is very vague, and don't really understand it. Not all children, and parents will follow these guidelines. Every child is different as i mentioned before, and i think if every child is toilet trained by the time they're 3 and a half, what's the problem. But my children have always gone straight to the toilet, and none of this potty, or pullups. It's just a waste of time and money from my point of view, but the potty and pullups are usefull for other parent's. Maybe if you expanded the advice more, it would've been an excellent article.

Re: Toilet Training
damn this computer today! Anyway, at my centre some babies are trained by 15 months while other are still wetting/pooing their pants in the kindy room which is the 2.5 to 4 year room, a couple still we and poo their pants in the prep room.  Entirely depends on the child when they make the connection.

Re: Toilet Training
I guess they're all different.  My daughter was ready by her first birthday, it took me a couple of months to realise but she was out of nappies by the time she first went to daycare at 1 and a half, she was out of night nappies some time before her second birthday.  The 3 and a half year old next door is still in nappies completely, toilet training has not begun yet, and the 14 month old on the other side has started toilet training but still in nappies to go out or if they have something on and for overnight.  There's no real age on toilet training.  It's just when they're ready.

How to tell them what the potty is is to say potty over and over again.

Re: Toilet Training

Hi there. You have a great outline of what can be achieved by what age and some of us here on Minti would love to be on that kind of timeline. However your advice is vague on the "how to" area.  For example, at 18 months, telling my son to go on the potty is going to be a bit over his head... unless I've worked on getting him to understand the word what the word "potty" means.

I think if you provide more detail, you'll find that your advice will get ratings higher than average.

Re: Toilet Training
Hi, welcome to Minti, and congratulations on your efforts to write advice.  Here is a link that I highly recommend that everyone read before posting advice.  It is an excellent guide, and links to more great advice with tips and examples about writing online.

It gives you great tips about providing in depth information, links to further information on other websites, and how to add links to similar information already on Minti on the same topic.

I hope you find it helpful, good luck with your pregnancy - see you online.  Lui.

Re: Toilet Training

Well just let them go in pull-ups if they want too but make a reward chart and if they get ten stickers they get a treat. That will make him want to go.

Re: Toilet Training

I am trying this now. What do you suggest for a two year old who will sit on the potty for ages but won't do anything until they get off?
