The dreaded public toilet seat while out about with a child who is toilet training.

cheekymonkey by cheekymonkey Talking(July 2007) (rank 72nd)

Ok so your out at a park or doing some shopping, and your toilet training child says "I gotta go". So the race is on, where are the toilets and do they have a parents and child toilet facility?  Uh-oh only an adult toilet. Personally, I get there and cover seat with paper and sorta do "kangaroo" over the loo (sorry if that's a little too much info!!) for myself, but you can't do that with a kid. And with the size of thier little tooshies, they'll fall in the hole if they have to sit on the seat. Yuck.

So I found a simple, cheap and perfect solution. We take our own little toilet seat. No I don't lug a potty around with me (although I have seen that done too). I simply purchased a product called a Cushie Tushie Traveller. It's a paddes fold-up toilet seat for kids that sits on top of the normal toilet seat. It comes in it's own carry bag. So they don't have to make contact with that public toilet seat after all. I love it so much I thought that other parents might too. Now we just need them to make one for adults!!!

I got mine from Big W for about $15.

I never even thought of that - the whole loo paper thing is so hard to do, and I really like the idea of carrying the disinfectant stuff too Ngairi.

That is such a cool idea. I always have that no water washie disinfectant stuff in my handbag (even before it became popular) and always wiped the kids backsides with it after they were done. They got used to it. Leisa

great advise there and yes i remember those days with mine.. But the most embarasssing thing i ever saw was a  a mum pull out a potty out of a bag and stick her child in the middle of the mall, and it was absolotely gob smacking as the toliet block was 4 doors up..... Made it in the paper and all., about it.....

hehehehe....i was at a mum's group a while back when one lady refused to let her child use the toilet or potty at the mums house where it was being held and she actually went to the car and pulled out one of those lipski devices...the ones with the stairs and built in toilet  seat. I couldn't believe she was lugging it around..mmmm the things people do. I spose each to thier own!
