Holidaying in Southern Adelaide? What to do in my town

coey by coey Walking(July 2007) (rank 400th)
I live in the Southern Suburbs of Adelaide and there are plenty of places to go and see and do.  During the summer you can drive on some of the local beaches and take a few steps and you are in the beautiful carm water.  Also i live about 15mins to McLaren Vale which is another wine area that produces some of the best wines in the world.  About a 40minute drive further south and you are at Victor Harbour which is the home of Granite Island and the Bluff which you can walk around both.  With Granite Island you can walk across the bridge for free or take a horse and carriage ride at a small cost.  There are night tours on Granite Island where you can see the penguins. Further south again you have Rapid Bay where you have some great fishing area and about  i think 20 to 30 mins further on you can catch the ferry from Cape Jervious to Kangaroo Island which is a lovely place to go and see the seals at Seal Bay. Hope this helps everyone if you ever come to Adelaide its a great place to come and visit. Regards Deb

Re: Holidaying in Southern Adelaide? What to do in my town

I am also an Adelaide Southern Girl, but originally from around the Hallet Cove area.  I went to kindy, primary and high school up south and have always wanted to raise my children as Southern bumpkins...I still live at Marion to this day.  Victor Harbor is one of our favourite family hot spots too...bbq, ride a camel, fly a kite, the horse and cart, a German hot dog...a great day out !!!  Otherwise another great Southern place to visit with the kids in South Australia, is the wooden adventure playground...right opposite South port beach, which is one of most beautiful beaches here in SA!!

Adelaide sounds like such a great place to visit, and the wine area certainly sounds tempting!
