Hook Me Up

tracey by tracey Young Parent(July 2006) (rank 3rd)

When you have a baby there are a few things that will never cease to amaze you. Here's a few questions I recall asking myself- How something so small can need so much stuff? How many onsies can a baby wear in one day? Can you have too many sleepers?

Where can I hang this tiny bath robe?

For me, the answer came during one trip to the hardware store. Hooks. And lots of them. I'm not a real consisent closet or drawer girl, I can admit that.. But, I sure as heck can use hooks. So when my kids were born and I realized I had no time or energy to put anything away, I promptly installed hooks. Hooks at arms reach from the changing table, hooks in the bathroom, hooks in the closets, hooks in the laundry room. Believe me with all the onsies and sleepers and sweaters and hats and towels you'll accumulate, you won't want to live without them.

So, if you want to make things a little easier on yourself, hook yourself up. You'll be glad you did.

Hooks
my husband is notorious for not putting things away. Our compromise......hooks in the bedroom and by the front door. I actually want to put hooks at the kids level at the front door except there isn't much room in the front hall. i am sure that i will figure something out...............

yep
it works for me, its the best way to make sure you can find everything, i also have a cloths basket next to the front door which the kids put there school shoes and bags in when they get home from school, so we don't have to hunt around for them the next day.

Hooks in the entrance

I did a similar thing in my house.  I found it particularly useful as they got older but not old enough to hang things in their closets.  They have hooks for their sports equipment, hooks for their jackets by the door, and hooks for their school backpacks.  The ones by the entrance are the best, because then they can hang their own jackets and backpacks without having to rely on me to hang them in the closet.
