How can I help my child when you put them in Respite/Temcare.
There are lots of ways you can help your child cope with being away from you, and in a
strange place.
The most important things for you child to know are that you love them and

that going
into foster care is not a punishment.
Make sure your child has things that are important to him or her eg favourite clothes,
the toy he or she takes to bed, a photo of the family.
It can be hard to let these things go, but they will help your child when they need comfort.
Tell the Caseworker or carer about your child’s likes, and dislikes eg favourite foods, bedtime
routine, and about any special medical needs eg allergies, medicine.
Try to stay calm when talking to your child about what is happening. They will be scared
and upset too. Ask for help if you don’t know how to answer their questions.
Try not to make promises if you aren’t sure that you can keep them.
Children find it harder to cope with broken promises, than
with not being sure about what will happen
next.
So this helps all children regardless what care you have requested for, also some parents can contact the carers by phone, and talk to their carer and child....
Hope this info helps other mum/parents..
Thankyou...
