"True Friendships"

"True friendships are like diamonds they are eternal." And through our passage of life we all need them.

I believe there are three categories of people we meet, that play a major part throughout our lives.

"Acquaintances, Friends & True Friendships"

"Acquaintances" People whom we just meet.....work colleagues........... a friend of a friend.........these people don't impact your personal life.

"Friends"......... Whom you might socialise with on occasions..........have a joke with.....or a general talk with........these friends are usually involved in our lives to a certain extent.

"True Friendships" .........are those with whom you have a genuine connection......... earn't out of respect for one an other......... with whom you can bare your soul to with no fear of reprisals...........with whom you can agree to disagree on any subject & come out smling.........someone with whom you can share your hopes, dreams and deepest darkest secrets......... That know just the right moment you need to hear their voice ( either in person or by phone).......see a smile.........give a hug......or just be with you, without a word even been spoken.

"These True Friendships last a lifetime"

I know this is only my opinion on true friendship, friends & acquaintances as i'm sure many of you out there have yours, and i would love to hear them.

I hope all you minti members have truefriendships in your lives. Before i joined minti i can honestly say that i had few friends and only one true friendship (Annie) That has all changed in the time i've been on minti.

Hi Janice

Reading your advice helped a bit, but my problem is how do you find true friendships, the problem with me is that I think all friends are true friends but when I realise they're not it breaks my heart and confuses the hell out of me. I find it hard to make true friendships, I did actually manage it once and that person is still my true friend but when I need to talk I find it hard to get hold of her. So how do you make true friendships? Do you just wait for them to happen? Or do you have do something to make them happen?

I try helping people but that doesn't make any difference, people just don't want you to get too close. Even people who are struggling, would rather struggle than accept help or friendship. I had someone invite me over to tea on a regular basis and it seemed we really got on and then she stopped inviting me over I didn't ask why but we continued to be friends but it made me wonder is it me! Maybe I'm not interesting enough, maybe I don't listen enough, maybe..................whatever.

If anyone can help with this please email me as I forget to check on replies.

Hi Maria,

Sweet Maria, you have trues friends all around you right here on minti. If your so called friends in real life, don't want to take it any further, that's there lose, not your's. It sounds to me that you have a heart of gold. Some people i feel, don't think out side their own little box, and want to stay there....don't let this concern you....that is their misfortune...for not getting to know a wonder person as yourself.

Learn to go on your gut instinct Maria, ( as I did with you)..."NO" it is not you...some people just don't want help or the hand of friendship. Your true friend ( in real life) will come along, when you least expect them too.

"True Friend's" are some one you can trust, with your inmost thought's and secrets and dreams.....someone who knows you better than you know yourself......just have a sense when you need them & be there...people need to be heard & not just listened too ( in one ear & out the other)....I really do mean "HEARD"...and responded to....respect each others opinion....to be able to have debate and come out of it, with a hug and smile on your face and you both can have a laugh at, what you both disagreed, about.

Janice when i read the words your write my eyes fill with tears for i know you write and speak from the heart. Yes friendships come and go and some only come into your life to complete a part of the jigzaw thats needs to be added, but true friendships last forever and if a true friend is like a diamond then i have only ever had 2 the person im writing to and the one on my left hand. You have so much love to give and now through minti you have many to share it with.

so i haven't met any of you yet..... BUT there are many of you that i connect with and trust to tell anything! Communication for me and my minti friends is the key to building a strong friendship!

beautiful advice Janice.......i have to say my best friend let me down many years ago and since then i have not really got to close to anyone again

......i do miss it......but at the same time i can say i have made some awesome friends here on minti ........i am very lucky to have found all of you

This is so beautiful Janice and just what I needed tonight..........You are such a loving and genuine person, I"m glad we are getting to know each other.

I have a few "true friends" but I have one very special true friend that I can tell all my deepest darkest secrets to and know 100% I won't be judged. She is an amazing person.......

And your advise is so true, a lot of things have happened to me but what i love about certain mums on here , it doesnt matter how much their worrys are big, they are always there for u, and thats what great friendships are all about...

Oh Janice, I was about to write in your lounge, however I thought oooh, I like the title of that advice - I'll just have a quick read! How perfect that you are the lovely treasure who has written it. I agree entirely, and I have a wonderful group of 'true friends'. I believe they are 'true friends' because it never matters what we want, what believe, or what we understand about each other - we just back each other all the way and do what we can to help each other. We share anything and everything, (except our partners of course - that would be a bit weird friendly), and I love them like sisters no matter where they are in the world.
