Keeping Kindy Fun!

Mandy460 by Mandy460 Talking(July 2007) (rank 254th)

Hi Everyone,

Im not sure how involved Parents can get in the Kindys in Oz but this is what we do here. Jasmine goes to Montessori Kindy here in Kenya and its great. We had a Parent/Teacher Meeting last month and they school said they were open to suggestions

to make things more fun for the kids.. anyway what they came up with was one day a week for one hour a parent could book in a slot to teach the class something. Last week one of the Mums came in to teach the kids an Indian Dance, another time someone came in and made Choc Crackles Etc.. its great and the kids love it and it gives them something to look forward too. I was thinking to make Play dough or something crafty with them. I read somewhere either here on the Q&A section a Mum was saying her toddler isnt stimulated enough at Kindy.. i think what they are doing at Jasmines Kindy is great.

Re: Keeping Kindy Fun!
Most of them are open to Parents coming in. I sent the older boys through the C&K program for Kindy and Preschool, and we were rostered on for one day a month to help out. When the youngest went to day care and then preschool, both were very open to having the parents come in and teach the kids something that they were interested in. Esp at the preschool you just had to ask what day would be best. Just approach your childs teacher and see what they have to say. Good article Leisa
