What quesitons you can ask on minti?

rockclimbr4400 by rockclimbr4400 Talking(July 2007) (rank 256th)
Sometimes it is hard to know what is ok to ask about and what is not, here are a few examples of acceptable and unacceptable subjects to discuss on the Q&A section of minti.

Things you can ask in the Q&A section of minti:

1. Anything to do with your child. Whether it is acne, sleep problems, behaviour issues, school questions, babysitting, pacifier use, etc.
2. Any situation you deal with b/c you have a child or are married. In-laws, cousins, husband, house, moving, etc
3. Any questions about being pregnant, how to increase your odds of becoming pregnant, or adoption.
4. Questions about activies or fun games for your baby or toddler.
5. Questions about pets, they are family too!
6. A question about how to use minti, such as how do I upload a picture, how do I join a group or become someones friend etc.
7. Questions about baby or toddler gear, strollers, car seats etc.

Things not to ask in the Q&A section of minti:

1. Your opinions of abortion or breastfeeding (don't start this debate, if you have a serious question about how to stop breastfeeding, or if you are struggling with it, or that you had an abortion or you're thining about it, is fine) but don't start the never ending debate about abortion is wrong or right, or you should only breastfeed. It only causes problems.
2. Anything not to do with parenting or families.

Hope this clears some things up. Just use discression and common sence when asking a question.

Common sense should be used.  But I have to say, what questions aren't about parenting?  I feel even if we are asking about our own personal issues that these are parenting problems.  Fixing our problems are important to our kids.  Controversial issues need to be address to, but in a sensitive, neutral way that won't be offensive to anyone.  I have opinions and can see lots of sides to the one story.  Open mindedness is highly important and I try to be sensitive to everyone's point of view.

Yes common sense goes a long way on here! Great advice not to debate those issues. Kylie

Pretty good advice matey - however I think that maybe we should clarify that there are groups for abortion, breastfeeding and bottle feeding if you want to blog about it and comment in there with your own personal opinions.

Please feel free to post genuine questions when you need help with these topics - such as - 'how do I?" and 'what is the best way to?'  'where can I get more information?" etc if you need parenting advice in Q&A.

Remember if you are offering advice or comments to help with any of these problems, try to be sensitive and empathetic to the feelings of other members by being objective.  Keep your advice or comments on these topics helpful and positive - this is a parenting site - these are definitely important questions.
