Re: Recharge the Batteries
i am with nell18-3 here..... i think personally it is hard to decide your babies sleep pattern as if they are not tired they wont sleep! regardless of routine!
I was just lucky i had a little girl who would sleep for hours...infact she's been asleep for 3 hours now and she's 2!!! most two yr olds are lucky to have 10 mins lol.
Cheers.

I agree that every child is different and hope that this benefits some people. If you struggle with your child to get to sleep see a sleep specialist.

Re: Recharge the Batteries
I don't think my son read the same book as you did..
My son from the words "you have a boy!"  did not have any real sleeping pattern until he started day care. I asked the lady what their routine was and two weeks before tried my hardest to make it happen before he started...  As before that every thing I tried did not work...

But I managed to get him down for the afternoon nap same time as they did at the day care,  and because of all the work he did two days a week he would be out like a light from 7.30pm but only if he had been at day care...
Now days night time is a hassle... :) But at least once he is asleep he is out for the night.. Yipppeeee

Re: Recharge the Batteries
Oh my goodness
I want a baby that sleeps like this LOL
My little bounders had no set sleep patterns at all, my oldest would sleep for about 12 hours a night which was fantastic from about 3 months old. My daughter only slept about 5 hours a night with only 20 minutes nap in the day! My 3rd child slept better but not anywhere as nice as my first and my youngest who is 10 sometimes can still be wide awake at midnight and still up early!!!!
I did the same routine with them all so I don't know what happened!!!!!!
Maybe I just had strong willed independent babies and children who make up their own routine
xxx

Re: Recharge the Batteries
Hmmm very interesting, however I don't think the babies read this manual whilst in the womb.  These are very ideal, however in the end, the less stressful way is to set your routine around the baby, and recharge your batteries when they do.  Also, the times that they go to bed and get up need to suit your lifestyle as well.  A lot of Dad's wouldn't see their baby if it went to bed at 6.30pm for example, and they don't start sleeping through the night until they are a bit older because of their need to feed.

Re: Recharge the Batteries
Hi
Gee whats your secret of getting kids to sleep this well.....
Jalan wakes at 6am and goes and goes all day and goes to sleep between 8-10pm...
If we go out in the car or she is sick she will have a daytime nap
We tried making her sleep but all she did was fight us
As for the teenagers well one often goes to bed at 7pm and wakes up at 6 on schooldays
The other one unless we set a bedtime stays awake half the night lol
Good luck everyone
Luv Deb

Re: Recharge the Batteries
Good advice...i wish my kids were nappers however.......My kids stopped naps at 2 and they sleep well as a result.... My 2 yr old is to bed at 630pm and awake at 700am....my 6 yr old son is to bed by 700-730 and then up at 630am...There is no way he would stay awake till 800pm

guess i have to have kids who are outside the norm......hugs
