What to do if you are short of breath while pregnant

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(July 2007) (rank 15th)

I myself have asthma and I find it has been worse since I have been pregnant.  Other women I have talked to about it say they experience the same thing and I guess it is quiet common in pregnant women.  I didn't experience it with my first pregnancy like I am with this pregnancy.  If you are not getting enough oxygen then the baby isn't so you need to go see a doctor if you are experiencing this.  If you already have asthma and you have all the inhalers the doctor may ask you to get an attachment to your inhalers because this attachment is the only real way to get the inhalers to work properly.  It is called a spacer and often it is given to children with Asthma.

Hi Marlena, I never heard of this when I was pregnant - though I was such a lazy lump (literally), that I doubt Jaydee suffered from oxygen loss.  Is it something that is a concern earlier or later in the pregnancy?  Anyway, if I get pregnant again, I will keep it in mind, and do some more research into it - cheers Lui.

Re: Pregnancy tip week 33
I never had it with my son but I had it this time.  First trimester is when it started and I would get it if I did anything and then it stopped for the second trimester.  I then have it again in the 3rd trimester but I get it depending on how I am sitting and lying.  The only time I feel OK is at this computer sitting up right.  I haven't heard it before but my sister in law just had a baby and had it also.  We both have asthma normally so  that could add to it.  I have read stuff about it on line and books but it never really goes into much detail.  I am terrible at finding stuff on line so I am sure there is more info out there.
