How should I make up my baby's bottle and how to store it....
Before you prepare a feed, it's very important to clean work surfaces and wash your hands. As germs can reach the baby and make them sick....
Remember that you also need to sterilise
bottles and teats before you use them. A pot on the stove is good to use and prevents thrush in mouth as some solutions that is used in sterilised containers have being known to cause thrush....
To make up a feed using powdered infant formula, boil fresh tap water and leave it to cool for no more than half an hour. Follow the formula manufacturer's instructions about how to make it up. DO NOY MIX MORE THEN WHAT THE GUIDE SAYS....
Test the temperature of the formula milk on the inside of your wrist. If it feels too hot, put the cap over the teat and hold the bottle under cold running water, Or use a large jug of water and put it in the jug to cool.....
You should make up formula milk freshly for each feed and use it immediately. Don't store made-up formula. If you will need to feed your baby when you're out, boil some water, ou should make up formula milk freshly for each feed and use it immediately. Don't store made-up formula. If you will need to feed your baby when you're out, boil some water, put it in a vacuum flask and take it with you. Then you can use it to prepare a feed when you need it. Little storage containers are available at most chemists or supermarkets.. Also if you need to have pre prepared formula due to childcare policys or there is no where to make a bottle, make sure there is a storage area for the bottles to be stored , or the milk will go off. so for childcare reasons,. make sure the milk is put straight in the fridge, and if out have a bottle storage bag...
If there is any formula milk left after a feed, throw this away. As its not a good idea to reheat a bottle more then the recommondation...
some of this info i have got from a another source, but have edited and put my ideas as well...
