DO YOU DRINK WHILE PREGNANT???

Last night i watched this tv show called pis*ed and pregnant at first i wasnt really paying any attention and was reading a article but something made me turn round and watch it and it ended out very intresting research

They actualy showed somebody who was a regular drinker having a scan and in their scan u can see these spasms like they do the start of pregnancy but only much faster and it is hitting the unborn baby obviously harming the unborn baby ,they also showed people talking about the things that has happened tp their children and how they suffered

I could not believe this was true autism , adhd , bad behaviour and a number of other things which im about to tell u about therefore i checked it out myself and during my search this is what i learnt !

When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol passes swiftly through the placenta and to her fetus.In the unborn babys body , alcohol is broken down much more slowly to an adults body . As a result the alcohol level of a babys blood can be even higher and can remain eveated longer than in the mothers blood.THIS CAN CAUSE THE BABY TO HAVE LONG LIFE DAMAGE .

Hazards of drinking whilst pregnant.

Mental retardation

Learning problems

Emotional problems

Behavioural problems

Heart defects

Organs defects

Facial defects

Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder

Fetal alcohol syndromme

A combination of physical

Mental birth defects

Miscarriage

Low birth weight #

Still birth.

This is true and i have found 5 of these affects that have actually affected kylie so far bearing in mind her mother was a regular drinking

DONT DRINK ALCOHOL WHILE PREGNANT KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE FROM THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic advice Emz! I'm not drinking while I'm pregnant. I can definitely handle going 9mths without a drink since it will benefit my baby! Ky *;-)

Great advice Emmie, thanks for sharing! I was never a regular drinker, but I gave up alcohol completely before I was pregnant and have not touched a drop since. One of my best friends is an alcoholic and it is so hard to deal with as she is in complete denial.

Great advice. Just wondering did it say anything about alcohol and BFing? Probably just as bad eh? I've noticed in a mag you can buy a gadget to measure your alcohol levels in Breastmilk, to know when it is safe to feed. Jx

One of my sons, by adoption, is dx fetal alcohol syndrome. His bio mother was an extremely heavy drinker and drugs. FAS syndrome persons basically live their lives in a drunken state...self control, a mind that reasons, etc isn't their's. A child whose mother drinks during pregnancy lives with the effects forever. And it doesn't take a large consumption of alcohol to harm a child forever. There is no safe amount of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

My son is also blessed with bipolar disorder and growth deficiencies.

Thanks im sorry ur son has had these problems the reason for me doing this article was because i recently found out my step daughter who i had from baby now 4 may have adhd her mother is an alcoholic and after what i learnt i thougfht i would let u guys know cos i think its important

I personally dont drink but if i get my way my kids wont either

Great article Emmie! I gave up drinking while trying to get pregnant with our first & haven't drank since! Admitedly I have been pregnant, breastfeeding, pregnant again & am now breast feeding, but I just don't see the point anymore. I come from a family of big drinkers & have done so myself, but I don't want my boys to see me like the rest of my family! Everyone tells me "1 or 2 won't hurt while you're feeding", and said the same while I was pregnant, but I don't want to take the risk!

great advice emmie......i had a friend who was an alcoholic.......she gave up the drink as soon as she found out......it was her life saver......how good was she......i do miss her i haven't seen her in a long time......this article reminded me of her......sorry......it's good to know the damage it can do......it may help people not to do it......regards Sandra xxx

I have never been a heavy drinker, and even now I don't have a lot unless I am childless for the night, and not driving anywhere even as a passenger. But when I was going through pregnancy with all mine, it was recommended one glass of red wine a night was good for you (but no more). Things may have changed the way they do over the years. But I agree that heavy drinking during pregnancy can do lots of damage,not just to the baby but to the mother as well.

Great article. I don't think it's worth taking anything to chance when you are carrying such a precious little miracle. My eldest is autistic and epileptic and I NEVER smoked or drank when I was pregnant and he still has both of these. I think a lot of it is due to genetics also, BUT like I said before...it's not worth taking anything to chance.

I also know of many people that drank and smoked right through their pregnancy and their children don't seem to have any problems. I said to Mum one day, "Where is the fairness in that...??? I did the right thing and looked what happened..." Mum replied, "Well, you just don't know...their child could have problems in the future, like other health problems, or a lower life expectancy..." And that's something that ALSO should be tested, not just the immediate or short term implications of drinking and smoking whilst pregnant.

Very well done, great advice emmie. Any one expecting should weigh up the pro's & con's of drinking, smoking & drugs while pregnant.......... if they wish to have a healthy child.

i think alcohol in moderation is ok, and by moderation i mean like 2 glasses of wine a week LOL....
I never really have been a drinker as i dont see the point in it!

Emmie - you little champion - it is a good warning. The reason that some doctors say a couple of glasses here and there are ok, is because they don't have definitive evidence as to how much is alright, and how much will cause damage to an unborn child. (I must admit to a couple of glasses at champers at my friend's wedding over about 6hrs when Jaydee was invitro 6mths). Now, at the time things were pretty much, 'a couple is ok'. Now with new research coming to light - I think I would forgo the bubbly. With the information we now have - it would seem to be silly to risk any long term damage to your child by not abstaining for 9mths or so.

On the other hand - if someone has a serious problem - I would like to pass on something I overheard a Doctor saying to someone else at the special care clinic we attended. Every drink you don't have is good, every smoke you don't have is good - I hope that helps some people that have problems.

great artical i gave up drinking on all 4 pregnancys its 9 months out of your life (if breastfeeding a little more )to make sure the little life growing inside you is free from any dangers you could b possible giving them.
