SENSES and SENSITIVITIES IN CHILDREN (Part One)- For all Mothers

personally in many ways and I know that most kids are sensitive in one way or another.

FACTS: We are ‘feeling, sensual’ beings here to experience and hopefully enjoy life through our senses. Senses are the pathways for communication between the physical BODY and super-conscious MIND. Sensory input creates actions and reactions both physically and emotionally. One of the first experiences with sensitivity is food intolerance and/or food sensitivity.  The senses are far more complex than the conventional concept of the basic ‘five senses’.ROBLEM: We have been limited by our conventional teaching: sight through the eyes; hearing through the ears; taste through our tongue; touch through our hands and smell through our nose. QUESTION: Why just focus on food causing problems? ANSWER: It is one of the medical mainstream ‘recognised’ answers. QUESTION: Which senses are involved with food sensitivity? Hard question?

OPINION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE AUTHOR No 1: Discovering and dealing with food sensitivity does make a big difference to the well being of a sensitive person or child. But it is only part of the answer to the bodies physical actions and reactions. It is seen as one of the most obvious culprits because food is constantly changing and we have a cultural belief that ‘we are what we eat.’

OPINION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE AUTHOR No 2: We actually have seven amazingly complex senses that operate freely across unlimited time and place, interacting between the physical body and the Genius Mind (the mind that runs all our complex systems, senses, emotions and reactions) at a speed we would find hard to believe.

TIME has three main reference points: (a) Past which is 'remembered', (b) Present which is 'the moment' and (c) Future which is 'that which is to come eg daydreaming'.

PLACE is the location of an experience which can be physical or non-physical. It’s three references points are: (a) Internal – evoked through memory, imagination, suggestion or creative visualisation, (b) External –actual sensory interaction to real external stimuli such a food. (c) Eternal – receiving sensory information by external or internal means from the Genius Mind, which is still a mystery to scientists and medical experts. All time and place frames can exist at once or in any combination.

THE SEVEN SENSES: We have seven complex senses that serve as part of the rapid system of communication.

SIGHT is the ability to see, visualise or remember images that have shape, colour, size and light. It can be to ‘see’ in dreams, visions while awake, auras, energy patterns and forms. Fully developed sight allows access to other worlds of subtle eternal energy forms and colour in what is considered to be empty space and colourless forms. Sensitive children generally have the gift of fully developed sight and I find parents often wonder what their child is looking at

TOUCH is the ability to feel textures, touch and emotional sensations that impact physically. It may be experienced while awake, in dreams or while interacting with the subtle eternal energy world. Fully developed touch is another sensory gift that allows communication with seen and unseen worlds. Sensitive children have this, feel other people’s feelings and react to disturbances in energy.

TASTE is the ability to discern type, flavour and texture of food, objects, animals and more. It is the sense that establishes preferences in food, clothing, colour, people etc. Taste can be experienced in the moment, remembered, imagined and in dreams. Taste can develop to a heightened level of appreciation and preference in relation to sight, touch, emotion, sound, rhythm, smell, taste in food and intellectual pursuit.

HEARING is the ability to receive communication as sound and understand communication in all its forms by using the other senses. It is the ability to hear and communicate in dreams and to experience subtle and symbolic forms of communication when awake. Hearing can develop to respond to body and earth rhythms, to detect unspoken communication from the energy worlds and to hear and communicate telepathically with animals and other developed humans. Sensitive children hear at such a high level that it may hurt and they are unable to hear a normal voice.

SMELL is the ability to perceive scent or aroma. It also means to remember, and imagine possible aromas freely or as a result of other sensory stimuli. Fully developed the ability can detect aromas in dreams, subtle aromas with no apparent cause and ranges of smell previously thought to be only detectable by some animals. It can discriminate between and detect the slightest change in atmosphere, human, plant or animal well being. Sensitive children can detect these slight changes.

KNOWING is the intellectual and instinctive ability to comprehend and understand using the previous five senses at a deeper level. It is the dimension of knowledge and experience and can experiences as memory, intuition, precognition, a 'gut' feeling and a 'I just know' sense. Additionally it is the ability to know the future through prophecy, intuitive divining, precognitive dreaming or spontaneous thought. We can know and understand messages, clues and cues through the other senses, have insight, understanding, visionary and appreciative knowing and communicate both physically and emotionally, externally and internally. Fully developed knowing allows us to fully appreciate and tune into natures seen and unseen beauty, delicate touch, natural music, aromas, internal rhythms of the self and nature and to discriminate and create at a refined level of taste. Sensitive children have ‘developed’ knowing but do not understand why others don’t believe them.

SIGNALLING is the ability to communicate at all levels using the other six senses and their combined interactive power. We receive, respond to and signal intentions constantly such as a wink of an eye, thumbs up or a rumbling tummy saying ‘I am hungry’. We also do this internally both consciously and subconsciously, in a reactive or pro-active manner. Breathing is an example of subconscious reactive signalling, while kissing is a conscious signal of attraction or love. We communicate ideas and concepts by external signals such as language, body language, gestures, voice inflection, writing and creative expression. Signalling also allows the ability to influence the future through ‘unseen’ communication using any or all of the seven senses to signal the genius Mind. Sensitive children read people, animals and the environment at a level that requires no words.

SENSITIVITIES IN CHILDREN

Children who have highly developed senses are gifted individuals who need understanding, acceptance and help in dealing with the sensory overload that is a fact of life in Western society. I started with food sensitivities because many, like me, are informed that food is the most likely cause of unusual behaviour and illnesses. Not much attention is given to other numerous environmental changes such as increasing excessive stimulus that impact on all seven of the senses. Please consider, as you read this, the changes in society that have taken place since WWII. The behavioural epidemic is man made.

Light, electrical goods and noise dominates life to such an extent now that there is excessive amounts of light and noise in the home, shopping centres, schools, work places and more. It is actually hard to find a peaceful and dimly lit space. Hence the rise in meditation industry to fulfil the need for ‘time out.’ Light impacts on sight, noise on hearing and the electromagnetic pollution, caused by all the new phones, electrical goods and more impacts on the body’s electrical system. Sceptical? Of course many are so I recommend trying a search on electromagnetic pollution. This usually brings up around 1,710,000 results. A lot of people are trying to find answers to this problem. There are answers!

The senses of smell, touch, taste, knowing and signalling are also in sensory overload due to massive amounts of advertising, manipulation through suggestion, the World Wide Web, loneliness caused by isolation and high world media coverage. Did any of that exist before WWII? The senses of knowing and signalling are in overload sending confusing messages to the Genius Mind, which in turn is confuses the body resulting in all sorts of eating disorders, stress about the future and anger at the world. Smell, touch and taste suffer due to air pollution, smoke, modified foods and out-gassing. Out-gassing? This is an area of great concern. It is the release of gases from common products such as carpet, paint, furniture and much more. Sceptical again? A search will come up with 992,000 results. I am a sensitive person so I understand sensitive children. The lucky ones like me learn to block naturally early in life but this is becoming harder for our children. There may be some solutions – see part two.

Hi, yes it is complex but would you believe I tried to shorten it but it didn't make sense. The fact is we have seven senses operatiing in three dimensions of time and space all at the same time. And these senses are being overloaded in what I call the new frontiers of 'unknowingly  man made problems'. I stunned a the manager of a shopping centre last night. He gave me a free voucher (OK ink ) and then he tried to give me a bonus shiny printed voucher as an extra. When I refused he asked why. I said smell it - it reeks - it is printed with a highly toxic outgassing ink. He looked stunned but people have to find out  about this. We have one compaigner here for kids in our community but still it is being hushed up. So was asbestos. My knowledge comes from the building industry and  worried  Building Designers who are involved australia wide.

Well it's very interesting, and your article has prompted me to find out more about it - which is what we all aim for, thanks for the info. I agree with the lighting thing especially.  I was only used to dining by candlelight in fairly intimate restaurants with quite a distance between the tables.

When I first moved to Australia I found dining out most off putting as the average restaurant/cafe has the tables closer together, and they are well lit - and very loud.  It still creeps me out a bit, and I often feel sick instead of hungry .

I find this very interesting, although it is rather complex, and it seems to jump a little all over the place... I reread it however, and it made a lot more sense the second time.  I am guessing that this may have a little to do with the relatively low average vote.  Is there any way to simplify it or split it so that people could get a better grasp of it first time round?

Just a thought, I should be in editing and shortening some of my own advice, however I have been meaning to read this all day - cheers, Lui.
